Breaking News: Kosoko Royal Family Names Prince Babajide Kosoko as Oloja of Lagos-Elect

The Kosoko Royal Family has officially declared Prince Abdulrafiu Babajide Akanni Kosoko as the Oloja of Lagos-elect, a significant development in the historic royal lineage of Lagos.
The declaration took place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Kosoko Palace in Ereko, Lagos Island, where members of the royal family converged in large numbers to witness the momentous occasion.
The palace courtyard came alive with traditional rites, prayers, and deep expressions of cultural pride as the family affirmed its decision in accordance with age-long customs and traditions of the Kosoko dynasty.
Prince Babajide Kosoko was formally presented to the gathering by the Olori Ebi General of the Kosoko Royal Family, Alhaja Mutiat Ashabi Ali-Balogun, who raised his hands in affirmation—symbolising the unanimous endorsement of the family.
She was supported by the Deputy Olori Ebi General, Alhaja Oyindamola Ayepola, who also serves as the Head of the Meshimo Ruling House.
With this declaration, Prince Abdulrafiu Babajide Akanni Kosoko assumes the status of Oloja of Lagos-elect, pending his traditional installation and capping by the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwanu Osuolale Okikiola Aremu Akiolu, in line with established Lagos palace traditions and protocols.
