This is one of the moments the sets me for success in the HR industry. Here I was receiving certificate of participation in the Executive Advance Human Resource Management course organized by Rome Business School Nigeria.
Being posted to a HR department during my NYSC was timely and divinely orchestrated. I can’t really explain how the passion for HR came but it was obvious to everyone including Corpers at the deeper life Corper fellowship Lagos that I’m fond of HR. Everyone in the lodge almost forgot my real name because of how I talked about HR at that time. Most of our Corpers in the lodge called me HR instead of my real name Sylvester.
I suddenly developed uncanny interest for HR that saved money for Executive Education in advance Human Resource management Rome Business School Nigeria Ikeja. The management of the school saw how passionate i was for HR so they decided to give me a discount just to encourage me to attend the course. Instead of #150,000, I paid 50k for the course. All my course mates were working class they all paid nothing less than #150,000 for the same course we were attending together. I’m deeply grateful to Rome Business School for their consideration and encouragement for me to do HR.
Since my service year until now, I still do HR and I will still do HR. I will not stop until organizations feels the impact of my vast knowledge of the HR value chain. This is I will continue to strive towards aligning business strategies to HR practices in any organization that i find myself.
Worthy of mention in my HR journey is Sokoya Seyi. She literally lays the foundation for my HR journey. Though she left not too long after I joined her in HR department as a corper but her influence and involvement really made the difference. To Madam Abisoye Oluwaseyi Sokoya, I’m grateful for your guidance and allowing me handled critical tasks as a corper. That was a great enabler of my success in the HR space.
After Madam Sokoya left, God sent a selfless angel in human form Oluwaseyitan Olatunji. Her sacrifice and constant advocacy for me really made me believe in myself and gave me huge confidence to advance in HR. In her words to me always, Sylvester you are good in HR. Despite being my senior and line manager then, she never tried to show up but encouraged and supported me in every way she could to make sure I emerge successful in HR. I remembered when I was transferred to finance department and later Admin by management, she still made great efforts and brought me back to HR. You’re simply amazing boss Seyi.
To everyone that has contributed one way or other in grooming me to be a fine HR professional, I’m grateful. I will not let you down until I impart lives and businesses.
Anticipate part 2 of my sojourn in HR.
