BREAKING NEWS: Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has urged President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against U.S. President
Donald Trump following his threat of military action against Nigeria.
Gumi condemned Trumpโs threat as an insult to Nigeriaโs sovereignty and called for an immediate diplomatic response.
So now, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi suddenly finds his voice to demand โdecisive actionโ from President Tinubu against the United States because of a supposed threat from Donald Trump? Interesting. Before we even begin to entertain that, letโs be honest for once. Sheikh Gumi is a large part of the problem this nation is battling today.
This is the same man who stood before cameras and counselled against confronting Boko Haram. The same man who played โintermediaryโ for bandits that have drenched this country in blood, who urged mercy for those who have shown none. The same Gumi who was barred from entering Mecca, yes, a fellow Muslim nation because of his open sympathy for violent actors, he dressed up as โmisguided brothers.โ
Now, this same voice of appeasement dares to lecture us about sovereignty and national pride? On what moral grounds, Sheikh? Where was that patriotic thunder when innocent citizens were being slaughtered, kidnapped, and displaced by the very groups you defended? When the nation cried for justice, you preached negotiation. When we demanded security, you offered excuses.
Letโs stop deceiving ourselves. The hypocrisy is nauseating. Before we point fingers at Washington or anywhere else, we must face the mirror. We have failed ourselves. We have allowed corruption, cowardice, and compromise to rot our institutions from the inside out.
Itโs time to stop hiding behind false piety and political correctness. We must rebuild Nigeria from the foundation of respect, competence, responsibility, transparency, accountability, and consequences. Yes, consequences, the DNA of every great nation. Without them, every sermon, every speech, every reform is just noise.
We must be ruthless in action and firm in kindness. No more excuses, no more shifting blame. This is our mess, and itโs time to roll up our sleeves and start scrubbing right now. The world owes us nothing. Nigeria must earn back her dignity by cleaning the house from within.
