The United Arab Emirates is now using AI to write laws. Please fact-check me. Believe it or not, AI is now routinely used to make judgments by courts in America, the U.K., Pakistan, Colombia, and other countries. In almost all Western nations, the number of people representing themselves in court has increased by more than 250% because AI is doing better work than many, if not most, lawyers.

And not just that. AI is helping people register their businesses with relevant government agencies without needing a lawyer.

Think about this while studying law. I am not saying do not study law. I read law myself up to a Master's level in England. But that was over twenty years ago. The world has changed. AI has disrupted the globe.

Please fact-check me: ChatGPT passed the Uniform Bar Examination at a level better than students who went to the best law schools. The Uniform Bar Examination allows you to practice in all 50 U.S. states.

As a lawyer or law student, this should give you pause and cause concern. It means that your available clientele is reducing fast.

So, count the cost. Is five years at university and one year at law school still worth the effort of becoming a qualified barrister?

Maybe in addition to law, you should consider adding one or two AI-proof skills to your repertoire so that if the law is not paying the bills, you will not become an ambulance chaser.
