CRIME DISGUISED AS A FUNERAL PROCESSION

While some strive to find solutions, others scheme malicious plans and seek shortcuts, despite knowing the country is on high alert.

In a shocking twist, a group disguised themselves as mourners, complete with a casket and an emergency vehicle light to secure easy passage through security checkpoints. This time, however, their usual tricks failed.

Upon inspection, the casket expected to carry a co**se was found empty, concealing weapons and explosives instead. This is what somebody's father left the house to go and deliver. Imagine who was waiting to receive this consignment.

Marketers may dump Dangote fuel as imported petrol costs N922/litre

Imported PMS landing cost now cheaper than Dangote’s price as dealers import 76.84m litres in two days

Oil marketers have revealed that the landing cost of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) as of Friday was N922.65 per litre.

Dealers said this cost factors in various expenses including shipping, import duties, and exchange rates.

The amount is a considerable reduction of N32.35 from the N955 per litre offered at the loading gantry of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Last Sunday, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery said the rise in petrol price from N899.50 was due to an increase in the cost of crude oil, the major component for refined petroleum products.

A disturbing incident has been reported in Imo State, where a 35-year-old businesswoman, identified as Edith Nwachukwu, was arrested by the police for allegedly battering her 13-year-old house help, Kelechi Ejieke.

The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday evening, January 21, 2025, by operatives of the Owerri Urban Divisional Police Headquarters after the minor was rescued from her at the popular Relief Market in Owerri.

According to reports, the suspect had accused the minor of stealing her money. An Imo-based journalist, Chidiebube Okeoma, who is the founder of the Stand for Humanity Foundation, along with some traders, alerted the police when informed about the situation.

The police promptly intervened, rescuing the minor and arresting the suspect. According to Okeoma, some traders forcefully rescued the girl from the businesswoman, who had inflicted injuries on the girl and was reportedly about to procure ten more canes to use on her.

He revealed that operatives of the Owerri Urban Divisional Police Headquarters had taken the girl to a hospital in Owerri for treatment, as her injuries were severe. When informed, Okeoma quickly alerted the DPO.

Thanks to some traders who rescued the minor and also involved the police. At the police station, the woman, who later pleaded for mercy, alleged that her house help had stolen her money, an accusation the girl denied. The woman said she was angry, which is why she battered the minor. The girl revealed she is from Amaeke Adam in Abia State.
