Data Challenges Trump’s Claim on US Strikes and Christian Killings in Nigeria

Donald Trump says the United States carried out airstrikes against Islamic State fighters in Nigeria because they were “killing primarily innocent Christians.”

However, a fact check by Sky News journalist Yousra Elbagir shows the data tells a more complex story.

While extremist violence has affected Christian communities, analysts and available data suggest the conflict in Nigeria is not driven solely by religion. Many attacks are linked to criminal gangs, territorial control, insurgency, and long-standing disputes over land and resources, with victims spanning different faiths.

The framing of Nigeria’s insecurity as purely religious has sparked debate, raising concerns about oversimplification and how global narratives influence foreign intervention.

Context matters. Data matters. Truth matters.

UK Surgeons Achieve Historic Brain Surgery Through Eye Socket

UK surgeons have removed a previously inoperable brain tumour by performing delicate keyhole surgery through a patient’s eye socket marking a medical first in the country.

40 year old mother of three Ruvimbo Kaviya underwent the groundbreaking procedure at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust after suffering severe headaches caused by a meningioma located deep behind the eyes near the brain. The tumour sat in the cavernous sinus an area once considered too dangerous to operate on.

Traditional surgery would have required removing large parts of the skull and shifting the brain risking seizures and long term complications. Instead doctors accessed the tumour through the eye socket reducing trauma and recovery time.

Ruvimbo was discharged within days and despite temporary double vision she is recovering well. The breakthrough is already offering new hope to patients whose brain tumours were once deemed untouchable.

Medicine is evolving and lives are changing in real time.
