Episode 2: The Woman in White
After the terrifying night, Chinedu stopped sleeping.
Every midnight, he heard splashing sounds outside his house. Every midnight, someone whispered his name.
His mother called the village priest, but even the priest looked frightened after hearing the story.
“There is a mermaid spirit in that river,” the priest warned. “She chooses one person every twenty years.”
That same night, powerfully heavy rain fell across the village.
At exactly 1:00 AM…
Chinedu heard knocking on his door.
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
“Who is there?” he asked nervously.
No answer.
Then slowly, the door opened by itself.
A cold wind entered the room.
Standing outside was the woman from the river.
But this time… she was floating above the ground.
Her white gown was soaked with water. Her long hair moved like snakes.
“Why are you following me?” Chinedu cried.
The mermaid smiled.
“You belong to the river now.”
Suddenly, all the water pots inside the house exploded at once.
The room flooded instantly.
Chinedu screamed as invisible hands dragged him across the wet floor toward the door.
His mother rushed in and began praying loudly.
The mermaid let out a horrifying scream that shook the entire village before disappearing into smoke.
But before vanishing, she pointed at Chinedu and whispered:
“Three more nights…”
