Motherhood is beautiful, but it’s not always rosy. Behind the smiles, baby photos, and “Congratulations!” messages, some mothers are silently fighting battles they can’t explain.

Postpartum Depression (PPD) is not just mood swings or “baby blues.”
It’s a real medical condition that affects millions of women after childbirth, and it can happen to anyone.

Common Symptoms Include,

● Persistent sadness or tearfulness

● Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed

● Difficulty bonding with the baby

● Fatigue, insomnia, or oversleeping

● Feelings of guilt, hopelessness, or worthlessness

● Thoughts of self-harm or harming the baby (in severe cases)

If you notice these signs in yourself or someone you know, please don’t stay silent.

Talk to a healthcare provider.
Speak with a counselor or mental health professional.
Lean on your support system.

It’s time to break the stigma around postpartum depression.
Asking for help doesn’t make you a weak mother. It makes you a strong and courageous woman who’s choosing healing for herself and her child 💖

Did you know that you are your own first line of defence against breast cancer?
One simple but powerful tool is breast self-examination (BSE).
It’s not just about awareness. It’s about empowerment.
Here’s how you can do it step by step:

● Stand in front of a mirror

Look at your breasts with shoulders straight and arms on your hips.

Check for changes in size, shape, or colour.

● Raise your arms

Look for the same changes again, especially dimpling, swelling, or skin changes.

● Check for fluid

Gently squeeze the ni**le to see if any discharge (watery, milky, yellow, or blood) comes out.

● Feel while lying down

Use the pads of your fingers, moving in a circular motion from the outside to the centre.

Cover the entire breast and armpit area.

● Feel while standing or sitting

Many women find it easiest in the shower when the skin is wet and slippery.

The goal isn’t to scare you, but to help you know your normal so you can quickly detect any abnormal.
Because early detection saves lives.

Ladies, make BSE a monthly habit.

Gentlemen, share this with the women you care about.

Your turn: When was the last time you did a self-check?

Bringing life into this world is nothing short of miraculous but as everyone rushes to hold the baby, don’t forget there’s someone else who needs holding too: you.

Postpartum isn’t just a phase; it’s a sacred time of physical, emotional, and mental healing. Your body is repairing, your hormones are shifting, your heart is expanding, and your soul is learning a brand-new rhythm. It’s okay to pause. It’s okay to need help.

Here’s how you can care for YOU during postpartum recovery:

▪︎ Rest without guilt. Your body is still doing hard work even after birth.

▪︎ Nourish yourself. Warm, balanced meals and hydration are your best friends.

▪︎ Accept help. Let others cook, clean, or hold the baby while you shower or nap.

▪︎ Stay gentle with your emotions. Mood swings, tears, and overwhelm are normal. Speak to someone you trust or a professional if it feels heavy.

▪︎ Move slowly. Light walks, deep breathing, and stretching (as advised by your health provider) can lift your energy.

▪︎ Remember: You’re not just recovering, you’re transforming. Every small act of self-care is an act of love for you and your baby.

Mama, you deserve the same tenderness you pour into everyone else. Caring for yourself isn’t selfish it’s survival, it’s strength, and it’s setting the foundation for the kind of parent you long to be.

Dear new mums and families, one of the things that can cause worry in those first few weeks is your baby’s p**p. Don’t panic, your little one’s dirty diapers tell a lot about their health, and most changes are perfectly normal!

Here’s what you may notice:

● Day 1–3: Dark, sticky, tar-like p**p called meconium – this is your baby’s first p**p and it’s completely normal.

● Day 4–7: As feeding gets established, p**p turns greenish-brown to mustard yellow, especially for breastfed babies.

● Breastfed baby: P**p is usually yellow, seedy, and soft, sometimes watery. It can happen after every feed or once in a few days.

● Formula-fed baby: P**p is often tan or light brown, a bit thicker than breastfed baby p**p.

When to see a doctor:

~ White, chalky, or very pale p**p

~ Red (bloody) p**p

~ Black p**p after the first few days

~ Persistent watery diarrhea or very hard pellets

Every baby is different, so don’t stress if your little one’s p**p schedule isn’t like another baby’s. Trust your instincts, and talk to your midwife or pediatrician if you’re ever unsure.

Did you know that p**p is one of the best signs your baby is feeding well? Keep watching those diapers, they’re telling you a story!

Mama, your little one has arrived, tiny fingers, soft cheeks, and that sweet smell only a newborn carries. In these first precious days, one thing you’ll notice is your baby’s umbilical cord stump. It’s a gentle reminder of the beautiful journey you both shared, and just like your baby, it needs love and care.

The umbilical cord may look unusual, but don’t worry it’s perfectly normal.

This tiny stump is healing and will fall off naturally within 1–2 weeks. Your role is simply to keep it clean, dry, and safe.

Here’s the right way to care for it

● Wash your hands before touching the cord.

● Gently clean the area with clean water and soft cotton if it looks dirty.

● Always keep the cord dry, fold your baby’s diaper down so it doesn’t rub.

● Avoid covering it with tight clothing.

● Never pull it off, even if it looks like it’s hanging, let nature take its course.

Signs to watch out for

If you notice redness, swelling, pus, a bad smell, or your baby seems unwell, please see a healthcare provider immediately.

Remember mama, you are doing beautifully. Every gentle touch, every careful step you take is another way you are showing your little one how deeply loved they are. Before you know it, that tiny cord will fall off, leaving behind your baby’s sweet belly button a new beginning, a new chapter.

Because just like the cord that once connected you, your love will always be their lifeline.

Bringing a new life into the world is a beautiful journey, but it can also feel overwhelming. Many new mothers imagine only joy and smiles, but the truth is it’s perfectly normal to feel emotional, sad, or even tearful after giving birth.

Your body has gone through a huge transformation. Hormones are shifting, sleep is disrupted, and suddenly you’re responsible for a cute, fragile life. These changes can stir up feelings you didn’t expect. You may feel joy one moment and cry the next. This doesn’t make you a “bad” mother it makes you human.

For most women, these feelings fade within a couple of weeks (often called the “baby blues”). But if the sadness lingers, feels heavy, or makes it hard for you to care for yourself or your baby, it might be and that is not your fault. It is simply a sign that you need support.

Remember:
▪︎ You are not alone. Many mothers experience this.
▪︎ Your emotions are valid. Don’t hide them.
▪︎ Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Talk to your partner, family, a trusted friend, or a midwife. Sharing your feelings is the first step to healing. With love, care, and the right support, brighter days will come.

Dear Mama, your tears don’t erase your strength they tell the story of your heart. You are doing beautifully.
