Last night, sleep wouldn't come.
Instead of staring at the ceiling, I reached for my Bible and opened it to a random page. The verse that greeted me felt as if God had placed it there just for that moment:

"When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I." — Psalm 61:2
I paused and let those words sink into my heart.
Life has a way of making us look strong on the outside while we're struggling on the inside. Many people smile through pain, carry silent burdens, and fight battles that no one else knows about.
But God never intended for us to carry those burdens alone.
Jesus is our safe place. He is our strength when we feel weak, our peace when life feels chaotic, and our hope when every door seems closed.
If you're reading this today, maybe it's not by accident. Maybe God wanted to remind you that He sees your tears, knows your worries, and is ready to carry what you've been trying to handle by yourself.

Before you scroll away, take a quiet moment and tell Jesus one thing that's on your heart today.
He is listening.

The Only Person Who Called Me "Chidiebere"
Everyone knows me as Chioma.
That's the name people call me every day.
My family calls me Chioma.
My friends call me Chioma.
Even strangers know me as Chioma.
But there was one person who never called me Chioma.
My father.
To him, I was always Chidiebere.
No matter where I was, once I heard that familiar voice say, "Chidiebere!" I knew my father was calling me. The way he said my name carried so much love, care, and pride that no one else could ever match.
I never imagined there would come a day when I would hear that voice for the last time.
The day my father died, a part of me died with him.
Since then, everyone still calls me Chioma.
But no one calls me Chidiebere anymore.
Sometimes, when I'm alone, I whisper my own name... "Chidiebere"... just to remember how it sounded when it came from my father's lips.
Then the tears come.
Not because of the name itself, but because the only person who ever called me that name is no longer here.
There are days I wish I could hear him call me just one more time.
Just once.
I would answer, "Yes, Daddy," without hesitation.
But heaven is too far away for my voice to reach him.
People tell me to be strong, but they don't understand.
I wasn't just mourning my father.
I was mourning the voice that made me feel safe.

The voice that made an ordinary name sound like the most beautiful word in the world.
Now, whenever someone calls me Chioma, I smile.
But deep inside, a part of me is still waiting to hear...
"Chidiebere..."
A voice that will never call me again until we meet in eternity.

If your father or mother is still alive, hug them, appreciate them, and tell them you love them while you still can. One day, all you'll have left are memories... and the sound of a voice you'll spend the rest of your life wishing you could hear one more time.

"The Daughter Who Gave Up Her Dream to Save Her Brother"
Everyone in the neighborhood knew Ada was the brightest student in her class.
The day she received her college admission letter, her mother danced around the house with tears of joy. It seemed like all their years of struggle were finally coming to an end.
But happiness didn't last long.
Just a few days later, Ada's younger brother became seriously ill. The doctor said he needed urgent surgery, and the cost was almost the same as Ada's school fees.
Their widowed mother spent sleepless nights crying and praying. She only had enough money to choose one.
With a heavy heart, she called Ada into her room.
"My daughter," she said through tears, "I know how much you've dreamed of going to college. But if your brother doesn't have this surgery, we could lose him. Can you give me one more year?"
Ada was heartbroken.
She had imagined her future for so long, and now it felt like it was slipping away. But when she looked at her weak little brother lying on the bed, she quietly nodded.
Instead of starting college, Ada began selling snacks in the local market to help her mother. Some people mocked her, saying she had wasted her education.
They didn't know the sacrifice she had made.
One afternoon, a customer noticed how politely and confidently Ada spoke. Curious, he asked why she wasn't in school.
After hearing her story, he was deeply moved.

A few weeks later, he returned with incredible news. He had paid Ada's tuition in full and even bought her textbooks and other school supplies.
Years passed.
Ada graduated, built a successful career, and her younger brother grew into a healthy, responsible man who never forgot what his sister had done for him.
Their mother often said, "That day, I thought I was breaking one child's heart to save another. But God had already prepared a way for both of them.

Sometimes, the hardest decisions parents make are not about choosing one child over another. They are about doing their best with what little they have.

If you were Ada, would you have made the same sacrifice? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Hannah's Story: The Woman Who Never Gave Up
Hannah was a kind, faithful woman who loved God with all her heart. She was married to a man named Elkanah. Elkanah loved Hannah deeply, but they had one painful problem—they had no children.
In those days, not having children brought deep sorrow. Hannah cried many nights, wondering why her prayers had not been answered. Every year, Elkanah took his family to worship God. Although he loved Hannah and gave her special gifts, her heart was still broken because she longed to become a mother.
Elkanah had another wife named Peninnah. Peninnah had many children, but she often mocked Hannah because she had none. She reminded Hannah of her pain again and again until Hannah wept and sometimes could not even eat.

Seeing her sadness, Elkanah said, "Hannah, why are you crying? Why don't you eat? Don't I mean more to you than ten sons?" He truly loved her, but only God could heal the pain in Hannah's heart.
One day, after worshiping at the house of the Lord, Hannah could not hold back her tears anymore. She went alone to pray. With a broken heart, she poured out everything before God. She prayed silently, crying so deeply that only her lips were moving.
She made a promise to God, saying, "Lord, if You give me a son, I will give him back to You to serve You all the days of his life."
The priest Eli saw her praying and thought she was drunk because no words were coming from her mouth. But Hannah explained that she was not drunk. She was simply pouring out her heart to God.

Eli then blessed her and said, "Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant your request."
Hannah believed God's promise. She left with peace in her heart. For the first time in a long while, she smiled again and ate her food.
Not long afterward, God answered Hannah's prayer. She became pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. She named him Samuel, which means "heard by God," because she knew God had heard her cry.
Hannah never forgot the promise she had made. When Samuel was old enough, she took him to the house of the Lord and gave him to God's service, just as she had promised. Although it was difficult to leave her son there, Hannah trusted God completely.
Every year, Hannah visited Samuel and brought him a new little robe. She watched him grow into a faithful servant of God.
Because Hannah kept her promise, God blessed her again. He gave her three more sons and two daughters. The woman who once cried herself to sleep became the joyful mother of many children.

Hannah's story reminds us that God's timing is always perfect. Sometimes the answer takes longer than we expect, but God never forgets those who trust Him. Tears may last for a night, but joy can come in the morning.
Lesson: Never lose hope because your prayer has not been answered yet. Keep trusting God, keep praying, and keep believing. The same God who remembered Hannah is still able to remember you.

Question: What are you trusting God for today? Share your answer in the comments and encourage someone who is waiting for a miracle.
