Family raises alarm over missing Lagos banker

The family of a 26-year-old banker, Osemudiamen Idemudia, has raised concerns over his mysterious disappearance while returning home from work.

Speaking with Punch on Wednesday, May 14, Osemudiamen’s father, Julius Idemudia, said his son was last seen on the evening of Friday, May 9, 2025.

According to him, Osemudiamen, who worked in the Point-of-Sale unit of a bank, had left the office alongside a colleague for an appointment with a senior staff member at the bank’s headquarters in CMS, Lagos Island.

However, upon their arrival at CMS, the scheduled meeting was cancelled by the official. The two colleagues then decided to head home.

Idemudia said after parting ways with his colleague, Osemudiamen was neither seen nor heard from again.

“Osemudiamen has been missing since Friday, May 9. He resumed at his office in Ikota that morning and later planned to go to the head office with a colleague after work for an appointment they had with a senior staff member. However, while they were on their way, the official called to say he wouldn’t be able to see them until Monday,” he said.

“When they eventually got to CMS, they parted ways. As usual, Osemudiamen was expected to board a bus to Iyana Ipaja, and from there, take another bus to Igando. But when it started getting late and we hadn’t heard from him, we became worried. After 24 hours of no contact, we raised the alarm. Since then, we haven’t heard from him. Our hearts are heavy with worry. This is so unlike him, and we are deeply concerned for his safety and well-being.”

Idemudia said the incident was reported at the Igando Police Station which is close to the Akesan area where Osemudiamen lives.

“We have reported the case of a missing person at the Igando Police Station and efforts are ongoing to meet with the Chief Security Officer of the bank for further probe on his disappearance," he added. Culled from Linda Ikeji blog

PRESS RELEASE NO.114/EDSGH/2025

OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
EDO STATE GOVERNMENT

GOV OKPEBHOLO ESCALATES WAR ON CULTISM
■ THREATENS LEGAL ACTION AGAINST LEADING CULT GROUP
■SAYS DEMOLITION OF MORE CULT HOUSES IN EDO STATE UNDERWAY

The Edo State Government has issued a strong warning and has commenced necessary legal consultations towards taking a decisive legal action against the Neo Black Movement, also known as Black Axe, over the recent spate of killings and cult-related violence in Edo State.

This decision is premised on public admission by self-acclaimed leaders of the group, who have openly identified themselves and condemned the lawful demolition of a building linked to their activities. By publicly aligning themselves with the structure and its usage, they have confirmed their association with the actions coordinated from the premises—thus paving the way for lawful prosecution.

The building in question was not just a regular structure; it was a hub for planning and executing violent attacks across Benin metropolis and other parts of Edo State. No responsible government will watch helplessly as criminal enclaves flourish under its watch.

The demolition of that property was a direct response to actionable intelligence, and it was carried out in line with the provisions of the Anti-cultism Law duly passed by the Edo State House of Assembly.

In response to recent claims by the group that they have renovated six public schools in Edo State since Senator Monday Okpebholo assumed office as Executive Governor, the Government demands a full disclosure.

The group must, without delay, publicly list the names and locations of the schools allegedly renovated, provide documented proof of the said renovations, and present the official letter of approval or partnership granted by the Edo State Government authorizing such actions. Failure to do so will result in immediate legal action for defamation, misrepresentation, and unauthorized interference in public infrastructure.

To further entrench law and order, the State Government will soon commence the development of a divisional police station on the parcel of land where the demolished cult-linked structure once stood. This permanent security presence will serve as a deterrent and protect law-abiding citizens and residents in the area.

More demolitions of buildings and properties linked to cultists and their criminal networks will follow in the coming days. The Okpebholo-led administration, relying on the existing anti-cultism legislation, remains unwavering in its resolve to sanitize Edo State of all forms of cultism.

As the Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Okpebholo will not sit back and watch innocent citizens killed by criminal gangs hiding under the guise of cult groups. It is the governor’s sworn responsibility to protect lives and property, and he is committed to executing that mandate decisively.

For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Okpebholo has no affiliation—past, present, or future—with any cult group or clandestine organization. He remains neutral and committed solely to the welfare and safety of the people of Edo State. Any such group found operating within the state will be dismantled, and its members will be arrested and prosecuted without hesitation.

Let it be made unequivocally clear: Edo State is not, and will never be, a safe haven for cultists. Anyone involved in cult-related activities is advised to cease and desist or relocate elsewhere. As long as Senator Monday Okpebholo remains the Executive Governor, Edo will be a hostile ground for cultism and all its manifestations.

The anti-cultism law remains in full effect and will continue to be enforced. The Okpebholo administration will stop at nothing to rid Edo State of those who threaten peace, security, and the sanctity of human life.

Signed:
Owaen Fred Itua ,
The Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor.

Sen. Monday Okpebholo Embarks on Demolition of Kidnappers’, Ritualists’ Hideouts

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has launched a decisive campaign to demolish the hideouts and residences of kidnappers, ritualists and cultists across the state.

This action underscores his commitment to putting an immediate end to the surge in cult-related killings and ritual murders that have plagued Benin City, the Edo State capital.

In this video, the usually reserved yet proactive Governor is seen personally overseeing the demolition of a building identified as a ritualists’ den—reportedly used for carrying out heinous and criminal activities such as human torture and sacrifices.

IPOB Enforces Sit-at-Home in Emu, Esan South East LGA, Edo State; Burns Truck and Other Vehicles

The people of Emu, in Esanland, are grappling with a new wave of violence amid the broader insecurity challenges in Edo State. On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a separatist group advocating for the creation of the sovereign state of Biafra, unleashed mayhem on the once-peaceful Esan community.

Residents, who would normally go about their daily activities, were caught off guard as IPOB operatives enforced a sit-at-home order, setting fire to a truck and several other vehicles. The unexpected attack has heightened fears and disrupted the fragile peace in the region.

*Six Abducted as Armed Fulani Herders Wreak Havoc in Esanland*

Posted as received.

Residents of Esan North East Local Government Area in Edo State are living in fear following fresh attacks by suspected Fulani armed herders and hunters, resulting in the kidnapping of six persons. In a coordinated overnight assault, five individuals were abducted from Uzea community, while one person was seized in Amedokhian. The wave of abductions has once again spotlighted the glaring failure of the government to protect the citizens from escalating insecurity.

Furious residents have lashed out at Okpebholo, accusing him of turning a blind eye to their plight while rural communities continue to suffer unchecked violence. “We can no longer sleep with our eyes closed. Every night is a nightmare,” a community elder lamented. The people say their repeated cries for help have been ignored, leaving them vulnerable to relentless attacks from heavily armed herders who operate with impunity.

(Hunters indeed. . . . .human beings though are the game).
