🛑 BREAKING NEWS: Edo Boy Hangs on Airplane Thinking It's Flying to USA or London — Lands in Lagos and Gets Arrested

A teenage boy from Edo State has been arrested at the Lagos airport after attempting to illegally travel by clinging to the wheel of an airplane, mistakenly believing the flight was heading to London or the United States.

The incident happened at the Benin Airport, where the young boy reportedly sneaked into the tarmac area and found his way into the undercarriage of a domestic flight. Witnesses say he was determined to "travel abroad by any means necessary" and believed the aircraft was going to a foreign country.

Unfortunately for him, the plane was a local flight headed to Lagos State.

Upon landing at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, airport officials were stunned to find the boy clinging to the aircraft's body, visibly weak, dirty, and disoriented. He was immediately arrested by airport security and taken away for questioning.

The Lagos State Airport Police Command has confirmed the arrest and says an investigation is ongoing to find out how the boy breached airport security in Benin. He is currently in custody, receiving medical checks and further interrogation.

The daring move has sparked widespread conversation on social media, with many Nigerians reacting in shock, pity, and anger — questioning the state of the nation that pushes young people into such risky and desperate actions.

BREAKING NEWS:
Abia State Government Approves 6 Months Paid Maternity Leave for Mothers, 3 Weeks for Fathers — A Bold Step Towards Family Wellness

In a progressive and people-centered move, the Abia State Government has officially approved six months of fully paid maternity leave for nursing mothers and three weeks of paternity leave for fathers, marking a major win for family welfare and work-life balance in Nigeria.

The announcement, which has been met with praise from citizens and health advocates, positions Abia State as a leader in supporting the health and wellbeing of families — especially mothers, newborns, and fathers.

According to the government, this new policy is aimed at encouraging exclusive breastfeeding, improving child health, and strengthening family bonds during the early stages of a child’s life.

“This is a groundbreaking decision. It shows that the government truly values the role of parents and the health of future generations,” said a health worker in Umuahia.

Nursing mothers across the state have expressed gratitude, saying the six months leave will allow them to recover fully from childbirth and care for their babies without the pressure of rushing back to work.

Fathers, too, are excited about the three weeks paternity leave, which allows them to bond with their newborns and support their partners during the critical postnatal period.

With this bold policy, Abia State has set a powerful example for the rest of the country to follow — putting family, health, and human dignity first.

NEWS: Nigerian Female Goalkeeper Shares Inspiring Journey from Humble Beginnings to Champion

In an emotional and inspiring interview, one of Nigeria’s finest female goalkeepers has opened up about her journey from the dusty streets of her hometown to the international football stage. The shot-stopper, now a celebrated champion, shared her story to motivate young girls across Nigeria who dream of playing football.

According to her, the journey was anything but easy.

> “I started playing football with boys in my neighborhood. People laughed at me, saying football is not for girls. Some even called me names, but I never gave up,” she said.

Raised in a modest home, she had little support at the beginning. Her parents were initially against her playing football, insisting she focused on house chores and schoolwork. But her passion for the sport couldn’t be hidden.

> “Sometimes, I would sneak out just to play. I trained with bare hands because I couldn’t afford gloves. There were days I cried, but I kept pushing.”

Her big break came when she was scouted during a local tournament. From there, she rose through the ranks, joining a state team, and eventually getting called up to represent Nigeria at the national level.

Despite several injuries, lack of sponsorship, and moments of self-doubt, she never lost hope.

> “There were times I almost quit. No salary, no motivation, just passion. But I held on to God and my dream,” she recalled.

Today, she stands tall as a national hero, with medals and international trophies to her name. Her story is not just one of victory, but of resilience, courage, and determination.

She ended her interview with a strong message:

> “To every girl out there, don’t let society define your limit. If I can do it, you can do even more. Believe in yourself and never stop working hard.”

Her story continues to inspire millions as she remains a role model for aspiring female athletes across Africa.

Touts Block Narrow Path After Flood, Demand Money From Stranded Pedestrians in Lagos

Lagos, Nigeria – August 4, 2025

Following a heavy downpour that flooded several parts of Lagos yesterday, reports have emerged that touts in one affected area took over the only accessible footpath, demanding money from residents before allowing them to pass.

Eyewitnesses told MIRM Daily News that the rains, which started in the early hours of Monday, left roads impassable in many communities. In one area (yet to be confirmed), residents were forced to rely on a narrow dry path as the only way through the flood. However, to their surprise, the path was blocked by a group of touts who charged between ₦100 to ₦200 per person before granting access.

“This is wickedness,” a resident lamented. “We’re already suffering from flood, and now we have to pay just to walk through a small path? This is unacceptable.”

Videos shared online showed agitated residents arguing with the touts, who appeared unmoved by pleas or protests.

The Lagos State Government is yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but concerned citizens have taken to social media to call on security agencies to arrest those responsible and ensure safe passage for all, especially in times of crisis.

Residents are urging authorities to act swiftly, not only to deal with the touts but to address the recurring flood problems that have made life difficult for Lagosians during the rainy season.
