Following last week's 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫 ceremonies, I noticed many congratulatory posts referring to it as "Call to Bar."

However, the correct expression is "𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫."

According to the Oxford Dictionary, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫 refers to the legal profession, particularly barristers collectively.

In other words, the phrase 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫 refers to the formal ceremony or process where law school graduates are officially admitted to the legal profession and granted the license to practice law as a barrister or attorney.

Therefore, when a law graduate completes the required training and is formally admitted to practise law, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐫.

The phrase is a complete expression, and the article "𝐭𝐡𝐞" must be there.

✅ Titilope was called to the Bar last week.
❌ Titilope was called to Bar last week.
