🌺 “THE DAY THE FAVOURITE CHILD FELL". A Petals of Wisdom Story — Harsh Truth Edition

In a quiet village lived two children: Brick, the “brilliant one,” and Brooke, the one people whispered about as “slow.”

Their mother adored Brick — praised him loudly, bragged about him to neighbours, and treated him like a trophy she polished every morning.

Brooke? She became the shadow in her own home — spoken to only when chores needed doing or when comparisons were necessary.

One evening, an old teacher visited the family. He watched silently as the mother pushed Brooke aside to serve Brick first, beam at his every word, and sigh impatiently at Brooke’s mistakes.

The teacher finally said:

“You love your child’s brightness so much
you don’t realize you are dimming the other one.”

The mother frowned.
But the teacher continued:

“Do you know the danger of favouritism?
You raise one child with pressure and break them.
You starve the other of love and cripple them.
In the end, both become wounded adults— one desperate to prove, the other terrified to try.”

The next year, Brick — the “genius” — couldn’t handle failure. One setback, and he shattered.

Brooke — the “slow one” — blossomed quietly under a neighbour’s encouragement and became the village’s most patient healer.

Only then did their mother realize the truth:

It wasn’t Brooke who was slow.
It was her own understanding.

And by the time their mother realised,the damage had been done.
