To every mum... this is for you.

World Breastfeeding Week isn’t just about celebrating breastfeeding, it’s about celebrating you.
The mum who’s learning as she goes.
The mum who’s exhausted but still shows up for every feed.
The mum who’s cried through sore ni***es, difficult latches, sleepless nights, and moments of self-doubt.
The mum who needed to supplement, exclusively pump, or stop breastfeeding earlier than she hoped.
You are not defined by how you feed your baby.
You are defined by the love, care, and dedication you give every single day.
This week, let’s replace guilt with grace, comparison with compassion, and pressure with support.

To every mum reading this: you’re doing better than you think.

Happy World Breastfeeding Week.

With love,
Nurse Sarah O

Let's talk about something that affects millions of families every year yet so many people still get wrong.

Premature birth.

Every day, babies arrive earlier than expected. And every day, families are left confused, scared and making decisions based on myths that have been passed around for generations.

Today we are busting 4 of the biggest myths about premature babies because your baby deserves care built on truth, not fear. 👇

The truth is premature babies can survive. Premature babies can thrive. And YOU as a family are one of the most important parts of your baby's recovery.
Whether your baby was born at 28 weeks, 32 weeks or 36 weeks, there is hope. There is care. And there is a community right here that understands what you are going through.

Save this post. Share it with every parent, every family, every healthcare worker you know.
Because somewhere right now, a family is being told something that is simply not true about their premature baby.
Let's change that one post at a time.

Which of these myths have YOU heard before? Drop it in the comments let's talk about it.

Imagine your baby arriving before you even finished setting up the nursery.

No bag fully packed. No final antenatal visit. Just, suddenly "My baby is here!!!". Weeks too soon.
This is the reality for millions of families every year. And the first question every parent asks is always the same:
"Will my baby be okay?"

Here is what you need to know
A baby is considered premature when they are born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. The earlier they arrive, the more support they need but early does not mean hopeless. Not even close.

Premature babies are placed in the neonatal unit because their bodies are still finishing the work that would have happened inside the womb. Their lungs need help breathing. Their bodies may struggle to stay warm. Feeding may take time to establish. But with the right care, they grow. They fight. They thrive.

If your baby is in the neonatal unit right now, here is the most important thing I want you to hear:
- Your presence matters more than you know. Your voice. Your touch. Your smell.
- You are part of your baby's treatment, you're not just a visitor. A vital part of their care.

Over the coming days I will be breaking down everything about premature babies, what the machines mean, what the numbers mean, how you can be involved, and what to expect on this journey
You are not alone. 💙🩷
