Humility is one trait of a true child of God. Anyone who realises how much he or she has been helped by God will know that there's really nothing to be proud of in this world. David understood God as his Source and Sustainer; he exhibited the trait of humility.

After David killed Goliath, he continued serving humbly in Saul's palace, playing music to soothe the king. He did not think service was beneath him. Even when Saul offered him his daughter, he didn't think himself worthy of such an honour. After he succeeded in paying the required bride price for Michal, he still humbled himself despite being the king's son in law (1 Samuel 18:23,30).

While in the wilderness, David sent his men to salute Nabal but he insulted David's men. David was going to fight. However, Abigail met him on the way and entreated him and he listened to her (1 Samuel 25:32-35).

After David ascended the throne, his humility still shone when he was challenged by Nathan for his sin. He was already a king at this time; he could have commanded Nathan to be locked up for building up enough effrontery to confront the king but instead, he humbly repented. He chose not to cover his sin.

When Absalom was banished after killing Amnon, Joab knew that the king's heart longed for him. He sent a woman to speak to David in parables. David, being a wise man, discerned that Joab had sent her. He honoured their request and returned Absalom (2 Samuel 14:1-23).

On many occasions, David displayed humility. He was humble enough to always seek the face of God before going for any battle because he knew God alone could give him victory.

Beloved, herein lies a great lesson for us today. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. It is therefore not surprising that David enjoyed massive grace from God. Take a cue from David today and learn to live a life of humility.

Children grow in grace when parents teach them the strength of humility.
Humility is not thinking less of ourselves, it is learning to put God first and others before ourselves.
Teach them to admit when they are wrong.
Teach them to say, โ€œI'm sorry.โ€
Teach them to rejoice when others succeed.
โ€œDo nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.โ€ โ€” 2:3

Children Learn More from What You Do Than What You Say
Your children are constantly watching your actions. They learn kindness by seeing you show kindness, honesty by watching you tell the truth, and faith by observing your walk with God.
Instead of only telling your children what to do, show them what it looks like to live with integrity, humility, and love.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
Today's Challenge: Let your child catch you doing something that reflects Christ, praying, reading the Bible, serving someone, forgiving quickly, or expressing gratitude.

Children grow in truth and wisdom when parents teach them to walk in truth, even when it's unpopular.
The world may change its standards, but God's truth remains the same.
Encourage them to stand for what is right.
Teach them to choose obedience over approval.
Remind them that pleasing God is always worth it.
โ€œDo not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.โ€ Romans 12:2
Parenting Godโ€™s way raises children who are courageous enough to live by God's truth.
A child grounded in God's Word can stand firm, even when standing alone.
Keep planting the seeds of truth today.

Children grow in contentment when parents teach them to find joy in God, not just in possessions.
Things come and go, but a heart rooted in God remains steady.
Teach them gratitude.
Teach them simplicity.
Teach them to treasure what truly lasts.
โ€œBetter is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble with it.โ€ Proverbs 15:16
Parenting Godโ€™s way raises children who value character above possessions and purpose above popularity.
The richest heart is not the one that has the most,
but the one that is thankful for what God has given.
May gratitude and contentment flourish in your home today

Teach Through Connection, Not Just Correction

Children learn best when they feel loved, understood, and connected. Before correcting a behavior, take a moment to connect with your childโ€™s heart. Ask questions, listen carefully, and help them understand why a behavior is right or wrong.

โ€œFathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.โ€ โ€” Ephesians 6:4

Today's Challenge: Spend 10 uninterrupted minutes with your child. Put away distractions, listen attentively, and let them know they are valued.

Prayer: "Lord, give me wisdom, patience, and grace as I raise my children. Help me reflect Your love in my words and actions today. Amen."

Remember: A child's heart is often won through consistent love before it is shaped through instruction.

Children grow in wisdom when parents teach them the power of their words.
Words can encourage or discourage.
They can build up or tear down.
Teach them to speak with kindness.
Teach them to tell the truth.
Teach them to use their words to bring life.
โ€œLet no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building upโ€ฆโ€ Ephesians 4:29
Parenting Godโ€™s way helps children understand that their words are a gift from God to bless others.
A wise tongue can bring healing, encouragement, and peace.
May your home be filled with words that inspire, uplift, and bring life today

Children grow in responsibility when parents teach them the value of diligence.
Faithfulness in small tasks prepares them for greater opportunities.
Encourage them to finish what they start.
Teach them to give their best effort.
Help them understand that hard work honors God.
โ€œWhatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lordโ€ฆโ€ Colossians 3:23
Parenting Godโ€™s way raises children who approach life with diligence and purpose.
Character is often formed in the ordinary responsibilities of everyday life.
Teach them to be faithful in the little things today, for those habits will shape their future

13/06/2026

Children grow in wisdom and forgiveness when parents teach them the importance of forgiveness.
Holding on to hurt hardens the heart.
Forgiveness makes room for healing.
Teach them to apologize sincerely.
Teach them to extend grace.
Teach them that forgiveness reflects God's love.
โ€œBe kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.โ€ Ephesians 4:32
Parenting Godโ€™s way raises children who choose reconciliation over resentment.
Forgiveness does not erase the lesson, but it frees the heart to move forward in love.
May your home be a place where grace and forgiveness abound today
