PRESS RELEASE UPDATE
Correction on Title Attribution in Earlier Publication
Nnewi, Anambra State — May 4, 2026
Our attention has been drawn to a news publication by AnaedoTV dated Saturday, May 2, 2026, concerning the inauguration ceremony of the Obi in Council of Okpuno-Uruagu, Nnewi, in which the Obi of Okpuno-Uruagu, Obi Afam Iloka (Obibuenyi), was erroneously referred to as His Royal Highness.
We wish to categorically state that this designation was made in error by the editor and does not reflect the position, usage, or preference of the Obi Okpuno-Uruagu. Upon discovery, the mistake was promptly corrected.
For clarity, at no point during the ceremony or in any official capacity has Obi Afam Iloka referred to himself as His Royal Highness. He has consistently identified with and maintained the title Obi Okpuno-Uruagu, in full recognition and respect for the supremacy of His Royal Highness, Igwe Kenneth Onyeneke Orizu III, CON, Igwe Nnewi.
We regret any misunderstanding or misinterpretation that the earlier publication may have caused and wish to assure the public that this clarification is made in good faith to preserve accuracy, respect for tradition, and the integrity of all institutions involved.
All necessary corrections have been effected accordingly.
