Breaking: Terrorists in Nigeria Who Support Iran Plan to Attack U.S. Facilities and American Schools — U.S. Embassy Warns

The United States Embassy in Abuja has warned that terrorists who support Iran may be planning attacks on U.S. government facilities and American-affiliated schools in Nigeria.

According to the Embassy, intelligence reports suggest that some terrorist groups in Nigeria who support Iran may be planning attacks against American interests. Because of this threat, the Embassy advised U.S. citizens and staff to take extra security precautions.

People visiting the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, the Consulate General in Lagos, and American-affiliated schools were advised to change their travel routes and times to avoid becoming predictable targets. The Embassy also urged people to stay alert and watch their surroundings at all times.

Other safety measures include keeping a low profile in public places, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, keeping mobile phones charged for emergency situations, and learning where emergency exits are located in buildings.

This warning is coming just one week after the U.S. Embassy cancelled all visa appointments that were scheduled in Abuja due to fears of protests linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

The Embassy explained that some protests related to the conflict had already taken place and in some cases led to clashes between protesters and Nigerian security forces.

Authorities are now urging people to remain cautious while security agencies continue monitoring the situation.
