🚨 STORY TIME – PART 3 🚨
Months passed.
Chinedu graduated with flying colors.
The entire village came out to celebrate him.
There was music, dancing, and laughter everywhere.
As people congratulated him, Chinedu searched through the crowd until he found Amara.
He walked over and hugged her tightly.
"We did it," he whispered.
Amara smiled.
"No, Chinedu. You did it."
For the first time in years, she felt every sacrifice had been worth it.
A few weeks later, Chinedu got a job offer in Lagos.
The salary was more money than he had ever imagined.
The whole village rejoiced.
Even Amara couldn't stop smiling.
"This is your season," she told him.
Before leaving, Chinedu held her hands.
"Nothing will change between us."
Amara laughed.
"I know."
The first few months were beautiful.
He called every morning.
He called every night.
Sometimes they would talk for hours.
Then gradually...
Things began to change.
The calls became shorter.
The messages became fewer.
The excuses became more frequent.
"I'm busy."
"I'll call you later."
"I have a meeting."
One evening, Amara called him.
The phone rang.
No answer.
She called again.
No answer.
An hour later, Chinedu called back.
"I'm sorry. I've been busy."
Amara smiled.
"It's okay. I just missed hearing your voice."
There was silence.
The kind of silence that makes your heart uncomfortable.
The kind of silence that says something has changed.
A few days later, Chinedu posted a picture on social media.
Standing beside him was a beautiful, well-dressed woman.
The caption read:
"Success comes with meeting amazing people."
Amara stared at the picture.
Something about it didn't feel right.
But she shook the feeling away.
After all...
This was Chinedu.
The same Chinedu who promised never to forget.
Right?

🚨 STORY TIME – PART 2 🚨

The following week, Chinedu called Amara with a trembling voice.
"Amara, I don't know how to tell you this."

Amara's heart skipped.
"What happened?"
"My school fees have increased. If I don't pay before next week, I may not be allowed to write my exams."
For a moment, Amara was silent.

She knew there was barely enough money in her savings.
Business had been slow.
The rainy season had kept many customers away from her akara stand.

"How much do you need?" she finally asked.
Chinedu mentioned the amount.
Amara's heart sank.
It was more money than she had ever saved at once.
"Don't worry," she said softly. "We'll find a way."

That night, she couldn't sleep.
She counted her savings over and over again.
It still wasn't enough.
The next morning, she opened a small box containing the only gold earrings her late father had given her before he passed away.
She stared at them for a long time.
Tears gathered in her eyes.
Those earrings were the last gift she had from him.

But by afternoon, she had sold them.
When Chinedu received the money, he was shocked.
"Amara, where did you get this from?"
"It doesn't matter," she replied.
"No, tell me."
"I sold something."
"What did you sell?"
Amara forced a smile.
"Just focus on your exams."
There was silence on the phone.

Then Chinedu said quietly,
"I don't know what I did to deserve you."
Amara laughed softly.
"Maybe God knew you would need someone to believe in you."
For several seconds, neither of them spoke.
Then Chinedu said something that made her smile all day.
"One day, Amara, when I become successful, everyone will know your name."
Months later, Chinedu passed his exams with excellent grades.
The whole village celebrated him.
But only Amara knew the price that had been paid behind the scenes.

Little did she know that life was already preparing a test neither of them expected..
