President Tinubu Calls for Peace and Unity at Funeral of APC National Chairman’s Mother

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the people of Plateau State and Nigerians at large to embrace peace and unity for the progress of the country.

The President made the appeal during the funeral service of the late Nana Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, held in Jos on Saturday.

In his address, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among Nigerians, stressing that differences in religion or ethnicity should never divide the nation.

“I am a Muslim by faith, the religion I inherited from my parents, and I have never changed it. My wife, Oluremi, is a Christian, and she prays for me every day. I have never asked her to change her faith because I respect the right of everyone to practice their religion,” the President said.

“We all believe in one God, and to Him we shall return to answer for our deeds. What matters most is love and peace among us as citizens of one nation.”

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, thanked the President for attending the funeral despite his busy schedule. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering peace and harmony in the state and appreciated First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her support to women and vulnerable children in Plateau.

In an emotional tribute, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda described his late mother as a hardworking, virtuous, and selfless woman who dedicated her life to serving her community. He expressed gratitude to the President, governors, lawmakers, and the public for their solidarity and condolences during the period of mourning.

The late Nana Lydia Yilwatda, who passed away at the age of 83, will be laid to rest in Dungung village, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.
