I almost didn't call her back. It was a busy day and I figured it could wait.
But then I thought what a blessing it is to not be alone in this life. We have family. We have friends.
And today I want to talk about the friends we don't thank enough — the ones we just assume understand us.
A person can be surrounded by people and still only have a handful of true friends. Why so few?
Because being a true friend takes a big heart and open hands to embrace someone else's mess right along with your own.
Scripture is clear about what friends are for.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."
We're not just friends to pass time. We're friends to build each other up — by example, by love, by showing up.

A friend's encouragement can reignite your passion, restore your confidence, remind you of who you are when you've forgotten.
That's how friendship deepens. That's how community gets built — one person choosing to show up for another.
Proverbs 27:9 says, "Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice."
Let your friendship be that fragrance — the kind that brings joy and strength to the people around you.
Lord, thank You for the friends You've placed in my life — the ones who've encouraged me, challenged me, and stuck with me.
Help me be that same kind of friend to someone else. Teach me to notice who needs a text, a call, a "thinking of you" today. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Who's a friend you've been meaning to thank?
And if we're honest, sometimes we treat God the same way we treat our best friends when we're busy — we know He's there, we just don't make the time.
Maybe today is a good time to make room for Him again.
Whatever you're facing, we're here to walk through it with you—trusting God's presence, peace, and wisdom in every step forward.
If you
