In a shocking and unprecedented move, Nigerian Justice Boloukuoromo M. Ugo has resigned from the bench, citing demands from the executive branch that he believes would destroy the country’s democracy.

In a statement, Justice Ugo said that siding with the government on this matter would be the ‘death’ of Nigeria Democracy, and that he could not in good conscience remain silent…

His resignation has sent shockwaves through the country and raised serious questions about the state of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

According to Justice Ugo’s statement, he was asked to ‘cripple the independence of the judiciary’ by ruling in favor of a certain political candidate, whom the did not name but is widely believed to be President Bola Tinubu.

Nnamdi Kanu: IPOB to Declare Two-Week Sit-At-Home In Lagos, Says Simon Ekpa

Factional leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Simon Ekpa, has announced plans to declare a sit-at-home in Lagos State to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

Ekpa late Wednesday night tweeted that IPOB will be coming to Lagos after the two-week-long sit at home in the South-east.

“Biafrans in Lagos should get ready to be part of the demand to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. We are coming to Lagos after the 2 week-long sit at home,” Ekpa said.

“It is time to show your solidarity to this call for justice. Biafrans in Lagos will lockdown. The consultation will start soon.”

Ekpa on Tuesday announced that there will be a two-week sit-at-home in the South East.

While issuing a fresh threat of another lockdown, he said that the sit-at-home is to demand “the immediate and unconditional release of IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who remains illegally detained at the DSS dungeon”.

“Following the demand by the Biafra people for more sit at home civil disobedience, the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE) and Biafra De Facto Government In Homeland wish to notify Biafrans that there will be a sit-at-home civil disobedience starting from 31 July, 2023 to 14 August, 2023,” Ekpa said.

Ekpa stated that it is also in preparation for “Biafra’s self-referendum and to further put the world on notice that Biafrans are taking their future into their own hands.”

According to him, it will be observed “to invalidate the illegitimacy of those who parade themselves as Nigeria’s representatives within Biafran territory.”

The two-week sit-at-home order came hours after a closed-door meeting of South East political leaders where they sought an audience with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on resolving the security situation in the region.

U.S PLACE VISA BAN ON CJN ARIWOOLA, NWEZE, MUSA DANTTIJO, THREE OTHERS

The U.S Government has placed a visa ban on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, and six other members of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Amongst them are Justices Musa Dattijo Mohammed, Centus Nweze all of the Supreme Court.

The Justices were billed to attend a Seminar in the U.S and were all denied entry.
Justice Kudirat Kekere Ekun was the first to be informed of her ban.

Polytechnic Burns Handsets Worth 15 Million Naira.

The management of the Polytechnic Ibadan on Wednesday last week ordered the burning of the handsets confiscated during the school's last examination.

The deputy rector of the polytechnic Bayo Oyeleke who represented the rector said the school decided to burn the phones worth 15 million naira to cleanse the school of any form of exam malpractice as they had warned the students against bringing phones close to the examination hall.

The school management poured petrol on the phones and burnt them down.

Ohanaeze Faction Announces $500,000 Bounty On Ekpa, Accuses Him Of Causing War In Southeast.

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization, has accused Finland-based agitator, Simon Ekpa of declaring a second Biafra war in the Southeast.

Ohanaeze made the allegations while announcing a $500, 000 bounty on Ekpa.

In a statement by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Ohanaeze’s Secretary-General, the group urged President Bola Tinubu to deploy soldiers to every corner of the Southeast.

Speaking with newsmen, Isiguzoro said: “We are telling Tinubu that the second Biafra war has begun and he should deploy soldiers to all the nooks and crannies of the Southeast.

“The Southeast governors need help and Ohanaeze is asking the Southeast governors to defend themselves from external enemies.

“At this point in time, we can’t allow somebody in far-away Finland to dictate the pace.

“The government of Ebonyi State and the Southeast must ensure that the terrorist activities of Ekpa are solved in his homeland.

“What we are saying is that Ekpa has declared a second civil war in the Southeast and anybody with useful information will be given $500, 000.

”This is a self-help to ensure that our people get a secure environment.

“The Southeast governors appear to be weak and they are using the wrong approach in dealing with Ekpa. Our suspicion has been confirmed that what Ekpa is doing is to destroy the economy of the Southeast.”

Ekpa has been at the centre of the renewed crisis across the Southeast following the sit-at-home he declared.

The latest sit-at-home had crippled the economy of the Southeast.

Family declare 28-year-old Obianuju Emmanuella Anyaibe missing

A 28-year-old realtor, Obianuju Emmanuella Anyaibe, has been declared missing.

A family source said Ms Anyaibe left the house in a hurry, stating that she wanted to go meet a client. However, that was the last time anyone saw or heard from her. Her phone has since been unreachable.

‘’My sister has been missing for over 24hours now. She returned yesterday morning from work, dropped her bag and hopped back into the bike that brought her home, saying she had to rush down to meet with a client. That was the last we heard from her. Her phone was formerly ringing but right now has been switched off. Please help me post this.'' the source said
