KOGI STATE GOVERNMENT CONGRATULATES PROF. JOASH AMUPITAN, SAN, ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS INEC CHAIRMAN

1. The Government and people of Kogi State express profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, a distinguished son of Kogi State, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

2. This appointment is a strong validation of President Tinubu’s commitment to excellence, merit, and national inclusiveness in the leadership of our democratic institutions. Prof. Amupitan’s illustrious career as a renowned legal scholar, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and respected administrator stands as a testament to his capacity for impartiality, integrity, and intellectual depth, qualities that are vital to the advancement of our electoral system.

3. On behalf of the Government and the good people of Kogi State, we assure Mr. President and the entire nation that Prof. Amupitan will uphold the confidence reposed in him and continue to bring honour to the state and to Nigeria through his dedication to credible and transparent elections.

4. We heartily congratulate Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, on this well-deserved national assignment and pray for divine wisdom, strength, and success as he assumes this critical responsibility.

Be Careful

Motivational speakers may tell you that you live for others, but you are actually living for yourself. For you to live for others, you must first live for yourself. If you are no more, you are the biggest loser. Buhari died a couple of months ago, the world has moved on. The world will move on without you.

So your first rule should be how to remain alive. Also live every day like it is the last. As much as we wish to live forever, we won't live forever. No one knows when he or she will die.

But despite the unpredictability around living and death, don't be instrumental in your own death. Let it be natural. It is not nice to die and still be guilty for the cause of your death. Always be cautious and prioritize your own life. It is not selfishness. It is indeed a necessity.

We live with humans and you can never know what they feel towards you. Many that laugh with you and promise heaven and earth might be harboring a complete opposite of what they pledge. Do not be a pessimist, but never trust anyone completely. Reserve an element of doubt for everything that comes your way. Don't live in doubt, but never live without an element of doubt.

Let your risk be calculated. Do not close your eyes completely when crossing the expressway. It is dangerous. Some people are not happy you are alive even as your life and theirs don't use the same oxygen. Some are not happy you have food even as yours doesn't affect their own supplies. The scriptures said the heart of man is "desperately wicked". And the mystery here is that you don't know what is in people's minds.

Don't dissipate your energy trying to know what people are harboring. Expend that energy in being careful. Protect yourself by being careful. Do not run away, but do not be carried away. Sisera thought he was enjoying a milk of kindness from Jael and he slept off without knowing that Jael had been commissioned to end his life.

If being careful is tough, be tough too because if you are not careful, you are gone.

May God continue to protect us from pretentious well-wishers. Amen.
