A Remarkable Achievement by a friend, brother, classmate and a boss at the same time the Most Digital Education Secretary of Magumeri Local Education Authority

The achievement recorded by the Education Secretary of Magumeri Local Education Authority, Umar Lawan Ardoram, is truly commendable and deserves recognition.

Before his appointment as Education Secretary in 2024, the enrolment and ASC data entry situation in Magumeri was very poor, with data entry standing at approximately 25%. However, upon assuming office, Umar Lawan Ardoram introduced stronger monitoring, mobilisation and follow-up mechanisms to improve school enrolment and data reporting.

As a result of these efforts, many children in Magumeri have returned to school, and the 2025 ASC data-entry performance has increased to approximately 85%. This represents a significant improvement in the education system and demonstrates what committed leadership, effective coordination and dedication can achieve.

Education is the foundation of development, and the work of Umar Lawan Ardoram is contributing positively to the future of children across Magumeri and Northern Borno. His commitment, professionalism and passion for education are worthy of commendation.

Thank you, Your Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, Executive Governor of Borno State, for your continued commitment to transforming the education sector.

HON. KASIM TALBA: 80 JERE INDIGENE SHORTLISTED FOR VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING ACROSS 12 WARDS INITIATED BY THE JERE LGA CHAIRPERSON HON INNA GALADIMA.

80 indigene of Jere Local Government Area, comprising both men and women from the 12 wards, have been shortlisted and offered admission into a vocational skills-acquisition programme initiated by the Jere LGA Chairperson, Hon. Inna Galadima.

The programme provides opportunities for participants to acquire practical and entrepreneurial skills in areas including computer hardware and software, tailoring, carpentry, welding, fashion design, and other vocational trades.

Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Kasim Talba (AB), Councillor representing Mashamari Ward, emphasized the importance of equipping citizens with practical skills that can promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, employment opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.

400 BICYCLES FOR JERE FARMERS A GESTURE OF LOVE AND EMPOWERMENT

In a remarkable demonstration of people-centred leadership, the Executive Chairperson of Jere Local Government, Hon. Hajiya Inna Galadima , flagged off the distribution of 400 bicycles to farmers across the 12 wards of Jere LGA.

The bicycles are provided under the Borno State Government’s agricultural support initiative, championed by His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, to ease transportation for hardworking farmers and enable them to access their farms more conveniently.

The 12 Ward Councillors of Jere Local Government played a vital role in identifying and providing beneficiaries from their respective wards, ensuring that farmers across the council area benefit from this important intervention.

Hon. Hajiya Inna Galadima expressed her heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency Prof. Zulum for his continued love, compassion and commitment to the people of Jere and Borno State.

She urged all beneficiaries to protect the bicycles and never sell them, emphasizing that they are meant to support their farming activities and livelihoods.

She further called on the good people of Jere to remain united and steadfast in supporting progressive leadership, urging them to support Engr. Alhaji Mustapha Gubio(AMG) for Governor of Borno State in 2027.

This is more than 400 bicycles it is 400 opportunities, 400 hopes, and 400 steps towards a stronger farming community.

Zulum Delivers: Borno Civil Servants Jubilant as Leave Grants, Three-Year Promotional Benefits Hit Accounts

Civil servants across Borno State are in a jubilant mood following the payment of leave grants and three years promotional benefits, after Governor Babagana Umara Zulum directed the immediate release of the entitlements to workers.

The payments began hitting the accounts of civil servants on Thursday and continued through the weekend, following the Governor's recent directive for the immediate settlement of the outstanding entitlements.

The approval was granted during a meeting on Monday, August 17, between Governor Zulum and the leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), after the Office of the Head of Service submitted a proposal for consideration.

Zulum directed the immediate implementation of promotional benefits for all civil servants across the state for 2023, 2024, and 2025, the payment of leave grants for all entitled civil servants for the 2025 session, and a review of salary arrears for secondary and tertiary education staff, with a view to implementation by September, 2026.

Since assuming office in 2019, Zulum administration has prioritised the welfare of civil servants and retirees, alongside the settlement of entitlements owed deceased workers' families.

The Governor has rolled out a series of measures to improve the wellbeing of civil servants, spanning salaries, pensions and gratuities, health insurance, promotions, and transportation.

Recent interventions include N8 billion to clear pension and gratuity liabilities accrued between 2019 and 2021 for retired primary school teachers and other civil servants; N5.8 billion to settle the remaining gratuity backlog for families of deceased civil servants and pensioners; a N200 million monthly allocation for the payment of outstanding gratuities; and the implementation of a health insurance scheme, among other measures.

Governor Zulum has reiterated his commitment to settling all outstanding workers' entitlements before the end of his tenure.
..Organised Labour Commends Zulum for Swift Payment

The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Yusuf Inuwa, and his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Comrade Mohammed Baba, have commended Governor Babagana Zulum for the swift payment of leave grants and promotional benefits.

They lauded the Governor for the consistent and prompt payment of monthly salaries, pensions, and other entitlements throughout his tenure, without delay.

"We would like to commend the Governor for the prompt payment of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 promotional benefits and leave grants. Less than one week after the Governor's directive, the payments hit the accounts of civil servants," Inuwa and Baba said.

"Zulum is a listening Governor. Whenever we present him with workers' demands, he addresses them immediately. This demonstrates his commitment to civil servants' welfare," they added.
