Nigerian content creator and fast-rising Nollywood actor Odira Nwobu has reportedly died, prompting a wave of shock and grief across the entertainment industry.

His passing became public on Monday after blogger Awuzie Frankline announced it in an emotional Facebook post, confirming the actor was found unresponsive. Although details remain unclear, multiple sources told POLITICS NIGERIA that Nwobu died in South Africa just hours after a night out. A member of his team also confirmed the development.

Frankline and several colleagues expressed disbelief, noting that Nwobu appeared energetic and cheerful only hours earlier. Comedian Evan Okoro also reacted with shock, saying she could not accept the news.

Nwobu, celebrated for his comedy skits and roles in Nollywood projects, had steadily grown his fanbase in recent years. His sudden death has triggered widespread tributes from fans and fellow entertainers.

President Bola Tinubu held an extended security meeting on Sunday with Nigeria’s top military, police, and intelligence chiefs at the State House, Abuja, amid escalating security challenges nationwide. He said fresh, decisive actions are underway to stabilise affected areas, stressing that anyone undermining Nigeria’s territorial integrity will face the full weight of the law.

Tinubu confirmed he is receiving continuous briefings and has ordered security agencies to respond with speed, precision and total resolve. He reaffirmed his commitment to protecting every Nigerian, insisting that “Nigeria will prevail.”

Earlier, the President ordered the withdrawal of police officers assigned to VIP security duties. According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, police personnel will now refocus on core policing, while VIPs seeking escorts must rely on the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The move follows concerns over inadequate police presence, especially in remote communities.

Tinubu has also approved the recruitment of 30,000 new police officers and is working with state governments to upgrade police training infrastructure.

Sunday’s meeting was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and DSS Director-General, Tosin Adeola Ajayi.

I reached out to a married woman who owed me money. She ignored every call — ten straight attempts. Since I knew her husband wasn’t at home, I sent a message:

“Hi Sisi, I’m not calling about the money. I just wanted to let you know two ladies were fighting over your husband in town today. It was serious, and he just stood there watching… until one of them jumped into his car and they drove off together.”

Minutes later, she started calling nonstop. Twenty-one missed calls, plus messages asking where it happened, who the women were, and where they went. I didn’t respond.

Then another message came: “I have your money. Can we meet so you can tell me everything?”

I replied, “Send it to my account. I’ll refuel, then take you to one of the ladies’ houses. I know them.”

Two minutes later — alert. Full payment received.
I switched off my phone and slept in peace.
