From the Desk of Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan

Dear Distinguished Senate President Godswill Akpabio,

It is with the deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret that I tender this apology for the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect in your most exalted presence. I have reflected extensively on my unforgivable failure to recognize that legislative success in certain quarters is apparently not earned through merit, but through the ancient art of compliance — of the very personal kind.

How remiss of me not to understand that my refusal to indulge your… “requests” was not merely a personal choice, but a constitutional violation of the unwritten laws of certain men’s entitlement. Truly, I must apologize for prioritizing competence over capitulation, vision over vanity, and the people’s mandate over private dinners behind closed doors.

I now realize the catastrophic consequences of my actions: legislation delayed, tempers flared, and the tragic bruising of egos so large they require their own postcodes. For this disruption to the natural order of “quid pro quo,” I bow my head in fictional shame.

Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections.

The Benue River Bridge, constructed between 1928 and 1934, was a remarkable feat of engineering and one of Africa's longest bridges at the time. Spanning 2,584 feet, the bridge consisted of ten deck spans of 180 feet and three through spans of 240 feet each, supported by concrete piers.

The bridge's design took into account the river's navigation channel, with the three middle spans standing 37 feet above flood level. The construction process was extensive, requiring 8,600 tons of steel, 84,900 tons of concrete, and 700,000 rivets.

The Benue River Bridge replaced a train-ferry, enabling uninterrupted rail travel between Port Harcourt and Kaduna. Its construction was a significant milestone in Nigeria's infrastructure development, facilitating transportation and connectivity across the region.

The event showcased the incredible talents, products, and creativity of the Benue people, solidifying Benue's position as an emerging industrial powerhouse!

Congratulations to the over 30 winners who received cash prizes ranging from ₦1M to ₦5M! Special thanks to Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, for gracing the event!

Welcome to Benue State, Step into the world of the Tiv people and indulge in a rich and abundant way of eating that will leave you feeling satisfied and fulfilled.🔥🍲

In the Tiv land, where food is plenty and the producers of food never lack, the Tiv people enjoy a style of eating called "Piano" see above picture.

This tradition is all about indulging in a variety of soups served with just one type of swallow (rwam) which can be pounded yam or other options. The Tiv people eat with passion every time, like it's the last supper, yet they always have enough for themselves and to feed the nation.

It's no wonder why Benue is called the "Food Basket of the Nation!" The abundance of food and the rich style of eating are a testament to the Tiv people's resilience and strong connection to their roots.

PHOTOS: Portable Arraigned In Court

Singer Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable is currently being arraigned at the High Court in Ifo, Ogun State.

Portable landed in police custody on Friday, March 31, 2023 after displaying irrational behaviour and insulting Police Officers who were performing their legal duties at his bar.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has said that the controversial singer will face more than six charges in court.

Joke of the day

A beer company was hiring a taster, Someone to taste the beers before they are taken for selling. So they placed adverts and one afternoon, my father walked into the manager's office asking to be employed.

The manager tried to figure out how he could drive him away but couldn't come up with an idea, so he decided to give him a trial. He ordered his secretary to give him a glass of wine 🍷

He took a sip and said, "It's Red wine, Varietal, three years old, grown on rift valley, matured in steel containers."

"That's correct!" The manager exclaimed, "Well give him another one let's see." So he was given.

He took a sip again and said, "It's Guinness, a combination of barley, roast malt extract, and brewers yeast brewed around Thika road in Nairobi, Kenya 2 years ago"

"Incredible!" said the manager.

Now the manager went closer to the secretary and whispered to her saying, "Go get some of your urine in a cup let's see if he will get that."

So my father was given the cup of urine. He took a sip, turned to the manager and said, "Female urine, 26 years old, 2 weeks pregnant and if I'm not given this job, Sir I will tell your wife who is responsible for the pregnancy"

The Senate of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi has approved Monday, October 24th as resumption date for all academic activities.

This is contained in a statement by the acting Registrar, Alex Ugaseh.
All returning students are expected to return to campus on Sunday, October 23rd for registration on Monday.
