I AM WRITING THIS WITH A DEEP PAIN IN MY HEART…
Sometimes, I ask myself: Why is it so difficult for us to support our own people who are using their talent to promote our culture?
We proudly call ourselves Tiv. We celebrate our language, our music, our dance, our dressing, our traditions and our heritage.
But when someone like Anjira Solomon aka Kpashi dedicates his talent, time, energy and resources to promoting Tiv culture through entertainment, dance, film and creativity, why do we struggle to stand behind him?
This is painful.
Because culture does not preserve itself.
Somebody has to carry it. Somebody has to sacrifice for it. Somebody has to keep telling our story.
And those people need our support.
I am not asking anyone to give what they cannot afford. I am asking us to do what we can.
Watch his work. Share it. Attend his performances. Recommend him for opportunities. Invite him to cultural programs. Collaborate with him. Sponsor a project if you can. Encourage him.
And to our cultural organizations, traditional institutions, businesses and successful sons and daughters of Tiv land:
Please, let us create real opportunities for people who are dedicating their lives to keeping our heritage alive.
Let us not wait until tomorrow to appreciate the people carrying our culture today.
💔 It hurts when we have talented people promoting our identity, yet they sometimes have to fight alone.
Anjira Solomon deserves to know that his people see his effort, value his contribution, and are willing to stand with him.
This is bigger than Kpashi.
This is about Tiv.
This is about our heritage.
This is about what we leave behind for the next generation.
❤️🖤 If we truly love Tiv culture, let us prove it—not only with words, but with support.
Tiv sons and daughters, what specific thing can YOU do today to support someone promoting our cultural heritage?
