The Executive Director of Finance at the Federal Housing Authority, Dr. Mathias Byuan, has said armed herdsmen have taken over almost all local government areas in Benue state except Vandeikya and Konshisha local government areas.
Byuan however urged residents of the two local government areas to be vigilant and prayerful.
The immediate past Governor of Benue State and Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, today at Mbachambe, Ikyurav Shangev-Tiev, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, paid his last respects to a chieftain of the party, the late Hon. Abraham Nyikwagh.
The late Abraham Kuma Nyikwagh was the father of the current State Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Dan Nyikwagh.

"When I served as the Governor of Benue State, Hon. Abraham Nyikwagh played a significant role as one of the elders who supported me to succeed," Chief Ortom noted.
He also used the opportunity to call on Benue stakeholders across party lines to unite in order to overcome the security challenges bedeviling the state.
The former governor also urged the people to always pray for their leaders to succeed, particularly Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, as well as other leaders.

Sesoo Gboko Ikpagher, and other APC members for setting aside their party differences and demonstrating brotherhood by attending the burial of a non-party member.
While praying to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and the family the fortitude to bear the loss, Chief Ortom encouraged the children of the deceased to take solace in the fact that late Nyikwagh lived a fulfilled life.
Dr. Byuan, and Hon. Ikpagher in their separate remarks, emphasized the need for Benue sons and daughters to unite regardless of party affiliations, insisting that the Fulani herdsmen invasion poses an existential threat that can only be overcome through unity.
