*REPORT ON THE FAMILIARIZATION VISIT OF THE RAW MATERIALS RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (RMRDC), MAKURDI COORDINATION OFFICE TO TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION CENTRE (TIC), MAKURDI*

Earlier today, 22nd June, 2026, the Benue State Coordination Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Makurdi, paid a familiarization visit to the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Makurdi. The visit was aimed at fostering institutional collaboration and strengthening the partnership between both organizations in promoting technology-based enterprise development, local raw material utilization, and industrial innovation.

The Centre Manager, Engr. Terna A. Ageh warmly received the RMRDC delegation and expressed his sincere appreciation to the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Engr Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji for the confidence reposed in him through his deployment as the Centre Manager of TIC Makurdi.

He emphasized his commitment to repositioning the Centre through strategic partnerships and solicited the support and collaboration of RMRDC in achieving the Centre's mandate of promoting technology incubation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization of indigenous innovations.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Benue State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mrs. Iveren J. Abel Ugbir, appreciated the Centre Manager for the invitation and warm reception. She congratulated him on his appointment and assured him of RMRDC's readiness to collaborate with TIC Makurdi in areas of mutual interest to ensure the effective delivery of their respective mandates.

She reaffirmed the Council's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote the utilization of local raw materials, product development, value addition, and industrial growth within Benue State.

FAMILIARIZATION VISIT OF THE CENTRE MANAGER, TIC MAKURDI, TO THE DIRECTOR GENERAL, BENUE STATE GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SERVICE (BENGIS)

Earlier today, the newly deployed Centre Manager of the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Makurdi, Engr. Terna Ageh, paid a familiarization visit to Professor Daniel Amine, Director General of the Benue State Geographic Information Service (BENGIS).

During the visit, Engr. Ageh conveyed the goodwill message of the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) Engr Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, and highlighted his vision of transforming viable ideas into innovations and industries capable of creating jobs, wealth, and sustainable economic growth.

Engr. Ageh further briefed the Director General of BENGIS on the mandate, vision, objectives, and achievements of NBTI, emphasizing the critical role of the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and enterprise development. He also highlighted potential areas of collaboration between NBTI and BENGIS in driving economic growth and innovation within Benue State.

In addition, Engr. Ageh informed Prof. Amine of the remarkable participation of Benue State in the NBTI NextGeneration Innovation Challenge 2026, noting that the state recorded a total of 122 innovative submissions. He emphasized the need to establish an incubation cluster to accommodate and support post-incubation enterprises and emerging innovators. He further noted that the current TIC Makurdi facility, with only 18 incubation units for resident incubatees, may soon be insufficient to meet the growing demand for innovation-driven enterprise development in the state.

Responding, Prof. Amine warmly welcomed Engr. Ageh and his team and congratulated him on his appointment as Centre Manager of TIC Makurdi. He stressed the importance of strengthening linkages between the Centre, universities, polytechnics, and other tertiary institutions, describing them as major sources of technology-driven ideas, innovations, and entrepreneurial talent.

The Director General specifically identified the Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER) and other research-oriented institutions as strategic partners, citing their vast pool of agriculture-related innovations and ventures that could benefit from incubation, product development, technology transfer, and commercialization.

The visit concluded with both parties expressing optimism about future collaboration aimed at promoting innovation, technology transfer, entrepreneurship development, and sustainable economic growth in Benue State.

Benue State Commissioner for Energy, Science, and Technology Innovation, Hon. James Dwem, yesterday, May 29, 2026, led a delegation on a working visit to the Technology Incubation Centre. The team included the the Permanent Secretary, directors from the ministry and Mrs. Mariah Abam from the Energy Commission of Nigeria.

Received by Centre Manager, Engr Terna Ageh, Commissioner Dwem noted that the aim for the visit was to familiarize himself with the centre, understand its mandate, and explore ways the ministry could support its growth.

"I visited the DG months ago and saw products from other centres. I wasn't aware such an establishment existed in the state," he noted, expressing hope that the centre would produce quality entrepreneurs and products, boosting the state's economy.

Hon. Dwem praised the centre's potential, stating that having such a facility in Benue would significantly contribute to economic growth. He assured the centre of the ministry's support, urging the centre manager to maximize the opportunity to drive progress.

In his address, the Centre Manager, Engr Ageh briefed the commissioner on the centre's focus on agro-based products, tech, and value-added businesses, showcasing the centre's quality assurance laboratory and mechanical workshop. He highlighted efforts to optimize these facilities, inviting the commissioner to witness the centre's capabilities.

The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Makurdi, on May 29, 2026, hosted a delegation from the Nigerian Army College of Environmental Science and Technology, Makurdi, on a collaboration visit aimed at exploring research and innovation partnerships.

The delegation was led by Research Lecturer, Mr. Mark William Ussuh, and accompanied by Dr. Ochelle Ohini Paul, MD/CEO of Ohini Foundation. Discussions centered on leveraging the Centre's Quality Control Laboratory to strengthen research, product development, and innovation support services.

Welcoming the visitors, the Centre Manager, Engr. Terna A. Ageh, highlighted the vision of the Director-General/CEO of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Engr. Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, to drive commercialization through effective implementation of the Technology Incubation Programme. He also briefed the team on NBTI's mandate and operations.

The delegation later toured the Quality Control Laboratory and expressed satisfaction with the facility's equipment and capacity. They commended the Centre's standards and proposed a strategic partnership to support research and product development activities.

Earlier today, Engr. Alom Igba Joksham, MNSE, FNIWE, Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers (NIWE), Makurdi Chapter, paid a familiarization visit to the Centre Manager of the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Makurdi.

During the visit, the Centre Manager welcomed the NIWE Chairman and expressed appreciation to the Director-General/CEO of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) for the opportunity to serve as the Centre Manager of TIC Makurdi.

The Centre Manager also solicited the support and collaboration of the NIWE Makurdi Chapter in creating awareness about the Centre’s activities and in supporting incubatees in product development through the use of the available equipment at the Quality Control Laboratory.

He further emphasized the need for strategic collaboration aimed at advancing Benue agro-products beyond expectations while encouraging practical, hands-on engagement with machines and technology-driven production processes.

As part of the visit, Engr. Alom was later conducted round the Quality Control Laboratory and the Mechanical Workshop, where he was shown the available facilities and equipment aimed at supporting product development, incubation, and technological innovation.

Earlier today, the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Makurdi, held an interactive session with entrepreneurs operating within the centre.
The session was organized to provide an avenue for engagement between the Centre Management and the entrepreneurs, enabling the newly posted Centre Manager to familiarize himself with the incubatees, understand their operations, and identify the challenges affecting their productivity and growth within the centre.

In his opening remarks, the Centre Manager, Engr. Terna A. Ageh, welcomed the entrepreneurs and appreciated them for honouring the invitation to the meeting.

He stated that the interactive session was necessary to build a cordial working relationship and to collectively explore ways of improving the operations and mandate delivery of the centre.

Speaking during the session, the entrepreneurs welcomed Engr. Terna A. Ageh to his home state and expressed optimism that his leadership would reposition the centre towards effectively achieving its mandate.

They highlighted several challenges hindering their production activities and business growth, including inadequate financing, lack of essential production equipment such as dryers and dehydrators, irregular power supply, and other operational constraints.

Responding, the Centre Manager assured the entrepreneurs that their concerns and observations would be carefully considered. He reiterated Management’s commitment to creating a more enabling environment for innovation, enterprise development, and improved productivity within the centre.

He further encouraged the entrepreneurs to remain committed to their various ventures while Management continues to seek practical solutions to the identified challenges.

The meeting ended with renewed assurances of cooperation and mutual understanding between the Centre Management and the entrepreneurs.

On 19th May 2026, the Centre Manager, Engr. Terna A. Ageh, received Dr. Kundam Dorcas Nguemo, CEO of Dystynkt Nigeria Enterprises, occupant of TIC Makurdi Unit A5. The enterprise is involved in the production of Gbache Food Chips and other unique Agro processed products derived from wild arrowroot tubers (*Tacca leontopetaloides*), commonly known as “Gbache” in Tiv language.

During the visit, the Centre Manager inspected the production unit and encouraged the incubatee to reactivate and fully utilize the facility for increased productivity and commercialization activities.

Dr. Nguemo informed the Centre Manager of the ongoing registration processes with relevant regulatory agencies, including NAFDAC, other necessary bodies and her limitations, aimed at ensuring compliance and market readiness of her products.

The Centre Manager commended her innovative efforts in agro-processing and value addition using locally available raw materials. He further assured her of adequate publicity and institutional support for her products once the production unit becomes fully operational.
