JECHIRA YOUTH FORUM INSTALLS DAN NYIKWAGH AS PATRON, HAILS HIM AS ARCHITECT OF POLITICAL SUCCESS

In a ceremony brimming with encomiums and political solidarity, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Jechira Youth Forum officially installed Benue PDP State Secretary, Comr. Dan Nyikwagh, as its Patron, with party leaders unanimously insisting he is "not accident of history" but a recognition of his pivotal role in the area's political ascendancy.

The event, which drew key party stalwarts from across Benue State, became a platform to celebrate Comrade Nyikwagh's legacy and to strategize for the PDP's return to power in the 2027 elections.

In his opening remarks, the Convener of the PDP Jechira Youth Forum, Comrade Tersoo Alabar, stated that the decision to nominate Nyikwagh was based on his "dynamism, political experience, and unwavering commitment to Jechira." He further insisted that the Benue State governorship is currently held by a Jechira son as a direct result of Nyikwagh's foundational efforts.

Hon. Kapu T. Kapu emphatically declared that Nyikwagh's nomination was not an oversight, describing him as a torch bearer of youth politics in the Jechira intermediate area and “a product of consistent struggle.”

Echoing this, former Commissioner, Hon. Dr. Sarwuan Tarnongo, highlighted how Comr. Nyikwagh's past efforts have manifested into today's Jechira governorship, further encouraging the youths to deepen their involvement in active politics within the PDP, assuring them of the party's formidable regrouping strategy to reclaim power in 2027.

The party's support for youth inclusion was reinforced by the Benue State PDP Youth Leader, Hon. David Mzer when urged the forum to leverage the ongoing voter registration exercise to build a massive support base, enabling the PDP to rebound in 2027.

Further endorsements came from Hon. Shimawua Adzaigba, a former House of Assembly Member for Konshisha, who reassured the forum of their excellent choice, noting Comr. Dan Nyikwagh's renowned skill as a great mobilizer.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Makurdi local government PDP, Hon. Paul Tion, also aligned with other speakers, encouraging the youth to continue growing the party in positive light as it has always been characteristic of the party youth.

In his acceptance speech, the newly installed patron, Comrade Dan Nyikwagh, expressed gratitude to the forum for their confidence in him. He assured them of his total support and commitment to their cause, stating he was proud of their decision to steadfastly support the party at such a critical time.

He also reassured the youth of the party leadership's full support for their aspirations.

Furthermore, Comrade Nyikwagh extended his appreciation to the leader of the party in the state, His Excellency Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom, for his foresight in strategic planning and positioning of the party ahead of the 2027 election year.

A WEEK WITH THE

On Monday, at approximately 10:00am, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 4, Makurdi, invited the State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, Comrd Dan Nyikwagh , for questioning following a petition he had submitted on the abuse of his rights by certain security agents.

The matter reportedly arose from a petition filed by legal representatives of Senator Gabriel Suswam regarding a public response Comr. Nyikwagh issued after the senator’s interview on Channels Television.

After initial investigations at the Zone 4 Headquarters, Comr. Nyikwagh was escorted by police officers to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Benue State Police Command to provide his statement. However, upon exiting the SCID premises, he was rearrested by police personnel who cited a different petition, filed by the same complainant as the first.

Comr. Nyikwagh was subjected to another round of investigation and was subsequently kept until about 10:00pm that evening and asked to return the following morning for further interrogation.

On Wednesday, he was arraigned before Magistrate Court 1 in Makurdi, where the presiding judge granted him bail on the basis of self-recognizance.

The case is scheduled to resume on October 24th, 2025, when Comr. Nyikwagh will appear in court to defend the position of the PDP in Benue State. He has maintained that his actions remain within the bounds of the law and do not in any way constitute a constitutional breach.

Meanwhile, his legal team has commenced preparations to institute legal action against the petitioners and the Nigerian Police Force for abuse of human rights.

Comr. Nyikwagh expressed gratitude to the leader of the party in the state, His Excellency Chief Dr. Samuel Ortom, for his role in safeguarding his welfare, as well as to the PDP leadership, his legal team, and members of the party for their solidarity throughout the period.

PRESS STATEMENT FROM SHANGEV-TIEV ELITE PROGRESSIVE ASSEMBLY (STEP-A)

14th July, 2025

The Shangev-Tiev Elite Progressive Assembly has watched with utter disgust and indignation the relentless, cowardly, and politically motivated attacks on one of our brightest sons, Comr. Dan Nyikwagh, the State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State. These brazen acts of intimidation, harassment, and outright threats to his life and liberty, sponsored and supervised by Senator Gabriel Suswam, are not only unacceptable but a direct assault on the collective dignity of the Shangev-Tiev people.

The bitter irony in this matter is that it was Comr. Dan Nyikwagh himself who, over the years, laboured to foster and protect a relationship between the Shangev-Tiev community and Sen. Suswam, who has now chosen to repay his goodwill with bad coins.

We are also not unaware of how Senator Suswam, claiming to be a friend of Shangev-Tiev, vehemently opposed Dan’s emergence as PDP State Secretary, exposing his deep-seated resentment towards the progress of a young man who represents the future of our land.

We ask: Where did this sudden venom against Dan Nyikwagh come from? Why has Senator Suswam, who was once a young man, blessed and lifted by his own people of Sankera to become Governor, now taken it upon himself to strangle the political growth of another young man from Shangev-Tiev? Is it jealousy? Fear of competition? Or just sheer wickedness?

While we have restrained ourselves from taking decisive action, waiting for Comr. Dan Nyikwagh to formally brief us on his ordeal, his recent publication exposing Senator Suswam’s use of police intimidation, threats, and state-sponsored harassment has compelled us to break our silence.

Let this serve as a warning; The people of Shangev-Tiev will not sit idly by while any son of our soil is persecuted, hunted, or threatened for daring to excel. We have watched for too long, but our patience has limits.

If Senator Gabriel Suswam believes he can use the instruments of state power to terrorize, silence, or eliminate a young man whose only "crime" is standing firm in his political convictions, then he has chosen the wrong victim and the wrong community. We will not allow it!

To the Nigerian Police and other security agencies being manipulated to do Suswam’s dirty bidding, Take notice; any further harassment, unlawful arrest, or harm inflicted on Comr. Dan Nyikwagh will be met with the full wrath of the Shangev-Tiev people. We will hold Senator Suswam personally responsible for any harm that befalls our son.

OUR STAND

We stand firmly with Comrade Dan Nyikwagh and demand:
1. An immediate end to all forms of intimidation, police harassment, and threats against him.
2. An apology from Sen. Suswam for this gross abuse of power.
3. A thorough investigation by the Inspector General of Police and the National Human Rights Commission into this blatant misuse of state power.

Signed:
Shangev-Tiev Elite Progressive Assembly(STEP-A)

OPEN LETTER TO SENATOR GABRIEL SUSWAM

Sen. Gabriel Suswam,

Your recent disgraceful outings in the media are nothing short of a brazen act of betrayal. A calculated, venomous assault on the very party that birthed your political career and elevated you to national prominence. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made you, nurtured you, and handed you power for years, yet you have chosen the path of treachery, ingratitude, and open hostility against the party that gave you everything.

It is utterly reprehensible that a man who has feasted on every opportunity provided by the PDP, could descend so low as to publicly vilify the party that made him. Your comments were not just reckless; they were the desperate rantings of a man who has lost his way, abandoned his principles, and now seeks relevance by turning daggers against the party that built him.

But let us not pretend to be surprised.

Your anti-party activities have been glaring for far too long. Your shameless alignment with the so-called "coalition," your open fraternization with the PDP’s rivals, and the toxic propaganda spewed by your aides and allies on social media all confirm what we already know; you are no longer a member of this party in spirit or in action.

You have willfully absented yourself from PDP activities, including the recent congresses, even in your own council ward of Mbagber. Yet, you have the audacity to sit before cameras and disparage the party that tolerated your disloyalty for so long.

As if your political indecisiveness is not enough sorrow to drown in. You hop from one sinking platform to another, APC, SDP, ADC, ADA, like a man without principles, without honor, without a home. Incidentally, the only "value" you bring to these groups is your toxic bitterness toward the PDP, as if your entire political relevance now depends on how much mud you can fling at the party that once carried you.

The PDP is not begging you to stay, nor will it lose sleep over your exit. But what we will not tolerate is your continued use of the PDP’s name as a punching bag to gain cheap relevance in your new circles of betrayal. Your tantrums are stale, your bitterness is transparent, and your betrayal is now a matter of public record.

If you have any shred of dignity left, do the honorable thing: walk away quietly instead of staining your already battered reputation further with this disgraceful anti-PDP crusade. The PDP is moving forward, with or without you.

Comr. Dan Nyikwagh
State Secretary,
Peoples Democratic Party, Benue State.
