Police arrest 5 cult members in Benue http://wp.me/p4WdOP-8l

NO fewer than five cultists have been arrested by Benue State Police Command after the cult groups clashed during the Christmas celebration at Wadata and Modern Market areas in Makurdi, the state capital. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP John Bako declared this on Monday and added that no life was lost during the clashes because of the quick intervention of the police but some persons sustained injuries. The Accord Party (AP) in Benue State has refused Prof. Steve Torkuma Ugba, its governorship ticket in the 2015 general election. Ugba, who is desperate to govern the state on the platform of the APC and was defeated in the primaries, is reported to be making fresh inroads into Accord Party after he allegedly lost relevance in APC. The Accord Party backed up its reasons for refusal on the grounds that he is not a registered member of the party and should therefore not be recognised as the party’s governorship candidate ahead of next month’s gubernatorial poll. Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswam yesterday presented N89.5billion budget to the state House of Assembly. Performing the presentation ceremony yesterday at the Assembly Complex in Makurdi, the governor said the budget, if approved by the lawmakers, will ensure payment of salaries, and ex*****on of government projects. According to him, the 2015 budget will also ensure adequate security of lives and properties of the populace adding that it would further enhance efficiency and political stability of the state.
