I am so big on friendships! I am a sucker for good friendship!
I have lots and lots of friends until some events happened and I had to draw boundaries!
I remember when I was in secondary school, I had a clique called BEST FRIENDS FOREVER! we were three! Two of them were in art class and I was in commercial class so we only met during general subjects or during break!
They become more closer and it really hurt me! Sometimes they would be discussing something’s and when I am coming close, they would either change the subject or excuse themselves! It always hurt me when I see it happen!
I actually managed and finished school until I got to the university and everyone was my friend!
See let me tell you something, everyone cannot be your friend!
Everyone cannot be in your circle!
Choose your inner circle wisely!
Circle that won’t make you grow or leave your comfort zone isn’t worth it!
Learn to give names to relationships! Not everyone is your friend! Call them classmates, acquaintances, neighbors, church members, coursemate etc!
Then I met with some friends during my university days and it shaped my friendship mentality! I learnt the hard way!
It details that I don’t want to dive into but they showed me shege pro max to the point that I squatted one of the girls in the house that my father paid rent for me! My own space oooo!
We were eating my food and all of that! she came with our third friend and wanted to abuse me physically in my own home!
A lot actually went on and I severe all ties with them! I moved on and during my healing process I realized that I let anyone in my space so easily!
I could meet you today and we will become close pals the next day! I could meet you today and make you feel like I’ve known you for years!
Thats my kind of person but I had to curtail it so it doesn’t mar me!
I had to create boundaries and learn discipline!
I had to come to terms with , “Not everyone is my friend”
And since then I realized how thin my circle was!
I know a lot of people but just few is my friend!
Even though sometimes I still loose guard and let people in my space easily, but I know that I’ve grown and I am still growing!
I have come to terms with the fact that:
Not everyone is my friend!
I shouldn’t let everyone access to me!
I should choose my friends and circle carefully!
I don’t need to chase friends!
I don’t need too much friends, I just need few genuine ones!
And for me, I might have experience bad friendships throughout my secondary days and university levels but still, God has blessed me with the gift of men and that I am grateful for!
If you are like me that host friends easily and give them easy access, you need to learn a thing or two from my write up!
