CHOOSING A NICHE BASED ON YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE
You should take this very seriously as this is the most important aspect of Amazon KDP. This is what determines if your e-book would sell fast or grow cobwebs on the kindle store shelf. The key to excelling in this area is finding the right niche, keyword and target audience.
Let’s start with giving meaning to each word and phrase mentioned.
NICHE: A specific topic on Amazon, it necessarily doesn’t have to be trending. Usually there are over 50 niches and sub niches combine on Amazon. Find out which one that is high in demand and suit your interest, if it’s too broad get a sub niche under it. Take for example under the romance niche there are different sub niches some of which are; contemporary romance, erotic romance, paranormal etc.
KEYWORD: This mostly a search word or phrase people type into the search bar on Amazon for them to find a particular product in their interest. Example (money, financial freedom, passive income, investment) all these would be keyword under wealth niche.
TARGET AUDIENCE: You must have a target audience in mind with whom you’re writing your e-book for. Writing for everyone means writing for no one. If you’re writing an e-book about passive income, then people who are already working are your target audience. It’s in your best interest to do proper research for keywords and your target audience in whatever niche you want to choose. Most niches are profitable but in varying degrees. Not all. keywords are profitable, you will find that out in your research.
