🚨 BORNO JUST RELEASED 720 "REPENTANT" TERRORISTS BACK INTO SOCIETY — AND THEY WONDER WHY THE NORTH-EAST IS STILL BURNING!
If you want to understand why insecurity in Nigeria never ends, this story is Exhibit A. Read it and share!
😳 WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
The Borno State Government has officially reintegrated 720 so-called "repentant" insurgents back into Nigerian communities after they completed what officials describe as a deradicalisation, rehabilitation and reintegration programme — the state's non-kinetic counter-insurgency initiative. (Blueprint Newspapers Limited)
But wait — it doesn't stop there.
The beneficiaries also include 992 spouses and 2,050 children who voluntarily surrendered and were classified as Batch 9 low-risk and minor clients. They were formally released during a ceremony at the Hajj Camp in Maiduguri. (Daily Post Nigeria)
That is nearly 4,000 people — in one batch alone — walking back into Nigerian communities with a pat on the back and a "please behave yourself."
📜 THE CEREMONY THAT SHOULD SHOCK EVERY NIGERIAN
The repentant insurgents were made to swear with the Holy Quran never to return to their old ways before they were given a second chance into their communities. (Daily Trust)
A Quran oath. That's the security guarantee. For people who bombed churches, slaughtered soldiers, kidnapped schoolgirls, and burned entire villages to the ground.
A Quran oath.
Let that sink in.
🔢 THE NUMBERS THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO ADD UP
Special Adviser on Security to Governor Babagana Zulum, retired Brigadier General Ishaq Abdullahi, revealed that more than 350,000 people have reportedly left insurgent camps and surrendered to security forces since the programme began. The latest batch brings the total number of rehabilitated and reintegrated beneficiaries across nine batches to 9,680. (Blueprint Newspapers Limited)
Let's be very clear about what those numbers mean:
350,000 surrendered insurgents processed through this system
9,680 already formally reintegrated into Nigerian communities
720 more released TODAY
And Batch 10 is already forming somewhere in the bush
Meanwhile, Borno communities are still being raided. Soldiers are still dying. And IDP camps are still overflowing with civilians who have nowhere to go.
🎓 THE "SKILLS" THEY WERE TAUGHT
Participants underwent structured rehabilitation that included religious education, counselling, hygiene and drug awareness sessions, as well as vocational training in tailoring, carpentry, metalwork, phone repairs, and solar installation. (Daily Post Nigeria)
So a man who was making IEDs and ambushing military convoys has now learned phone repairs and solar installation.
The government expects you to be satisfied with that.
🏆 THE AUDACITY OF THE "BORNO MODEL" BOAST
Brigadier General Ishaq declared at the ceremony: "Today, the Borno model is adjudged to be one of the most effective non-kinetic programmes in the history of mankind, with over 350,000 persons who willingly exited the bush and surrendered to the military." (Information Nigeria)
History of mankind.
Not Nigeria. Not Africa. Not the world. The history of mankind.
Meanwhile, ISWAP is still launching coordinated attacks. Communities in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa are still being terrorised. Nigerian soldiers are still being ambushed and killed. Tell us — what exactly is this programme winning?
⚠️ THIS IS WHY THE INSURGENCY NEVER ENDS
Here is what no government official will say out loud — but every Nigerian on the street already knows:
This programme has become a revolving door.
When you tell fighters that surrender equals — free feeding, free shelter, free vocational training, rehabilitation grants, and a ceremonial release back home — you haven't ended the insurgency. You have given it a business model.
Why fight to the finish when you can "repent," enjoy government hospitality for a few months, and walk back into your community — where your former commanders are still active two kilometers away in the bush?
Nigerian soldiers are dying to degrade Boko Haram and ISWAP on the battlefield, while this programme is replenishing their social networks, rehabilitating their logistics base, and returning their manpower to local communities.
The fighters know the system. They game it. They have been gaming it since Batch 1.
And now we are on Batch 9.
😡 THE VICTIMS' QUESTION NOBODY IS ANSWERING
For every "repentant" terrorist being celebrated at the Hajj Camp in Maiduguri, there is:
A widow in Gwoza whose husband was beheaded
An orphan in Chibok whose mother never came home
A farmer in Dikwa too traumatised to return to his land
A soldier's family in Maiduguri still waiting for their loved one's remains
Where is their ceremony?
Where is their reintegration package?
Where is their government adviser giving speeches about the "history of mankind"?
🗣️ WHAT NIGERIANS ARE SAYING
"So after killing our people, they learn tailoring and come back home free? What kind of country is this?" —
"Batch 9 today. Batch 10 by December. The bush never empties because this programme guarantees comfort." —
"The victims got mass graves. The terrorists got vocational training. This is Nigeria." —
"I respect the idea of rehabilitation in theory. But 350,000 people? Something is deeply wrong with this picture." —
🔥 BOTTOM LINE
The Borno State Government will tell you this programme is working. And perhaps for some individuals, genuine reformation has occurred. No reasonable person is against true rehabilitation.
But 9,680 formally reintegrated — and the North-East is still at war. 350,000 processed — and ISWAP is still expanding. Nine batches completed — and a Batch 10 is inevitable.
At what point does the Nigerian government admit that releasing terrorists back into the same communities they terrorised, armed with nothing but a Quran oath and carpentry skills, is not a counter-insurgency strategy?
It is a performance.
And Nigerians in the North-East are paying for it in blood.
💬 Do you support this reintegration programme or is it a danger to Nigerian communities?
