Meet Our Sponsor 🤎

Every meaningful initiative survives because someone chooses to believe in it.

For the maiden edition of the Bala Miller Prize for Performance Poetry (BaMiPP), Abdulrazaq Salihu served as our judge, bringing his time, insight, and commitment to ensuring a fair and memorable competition. Today, we're proud to recognize him not only for that contribution but also for standing behind the vision of BaMiPP as one of our sponsors.

BaMiPP is an open platform for performance poets and open for submission from anywhere in the world. Every month, one outstanding performer receives a ₦20,000 cash prize, made possible through the generosity of individuals who believe in nurturing literary talent. In August too, there won't be a book as a price tag but the standardized cash-prize for the winner.

To Abdulrazaq Salihu, thank you for investing in voices, stories, and the future of performance poetry. Your support is helping keep this dream alive.

Interested in supporting BaMiPP? Every donation and sponsorship goes a long way in sustaining this platform for poets everywhere.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS | BALA MILLER PRIZE FOR PERFORMANCE POETRY (BaMiPP) – AUGUST 2026 EDITION

Sometimes, the most meaningful rewards are not measured in cash, but in the books that reshape how we see the world.

The August 2026 edition of the Bala Miller Prize for Performance Poetry (BaMiPP) is now open for submissions.

📝 Theme: You and I...
This theme invites poets to explore relationships in all their forms—love and loss, friendship and distance, family, humanity, memory, conflict, reconciliation, or the silent conversations between the self and the world. Tell us the story only your voice can tell.

Submission Guidelines:
Submit an original poem based on the theme "You and I..."
Record a performance video of not more than one (1) minute.
Attach the poem in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.

We’ve seen it happen again and again: A young person steps to the mic, hands shaking. Then their words come out. Sometimes about home, about struggle, about hope and the whole room goes quiet.

That’s the Bala Miller Prize for Performance Poetry. It’s not just a competition. It’s a space where stories that matter get to breathe. Where talent from our communities is honored, not overlooked.

But we can’t do it alone.

We’re putting out a CALL FOR SPONSORSHIP for the next editions of the Bala Miller Prize. Sponsor a mic. Fund a voice. Help us give poets a platform.

Your support can go toward:

—Prize Tag to reward excellence
—Logistics to keep the lights on and the stage running
—Judges Honorarium to honor the people who guide and judge with care
