BAYELSA VIGILANTE GROUP RESCUE A 13 YEARS OLD GIRL WHO WAS LOCKED, BEATEN AND SEXUALLY MOLESTED IN A HOTEL, MAN ARRESTED.

Operative of the Bayelsa State Vigilante Service have rescued a 13 years old girl, identified as Miss Favour Doumo, a native of Nembe LGA, who was locked in a hotel and sexually molested with a gun by some suspected cultists in a hotel along the bossy water road in Tombia area of the state capital Yenagoa.

The Chairman of the State Vigilante outfit, Hon. Doubiye Alagba, who led members of his team on the operation, confirmed that the girl was rescued and suspect arrested with illegal possession of a gun, phones, money and other items.

Explaining her ordeal, the victim, Miss Favour, said she met the suspect barely a week and he invited her to the hotel where he resides, made love overtures at her, "I got to the hotel to meet him only for him to accuse me of cheating on him, that while I was away for an exam I travelled few days ego that I went to meet another man."

"He locked me in the hotel room. And later in the company of his friend, one Efe, used a gun to threaten me that I will not go anywhere, they stripped me off my clothes filmed me with their phones and molested me. He told me that he is a gun trafficker and that he has been to prison and that the government knows him".

Favour also disclosed that, she cried and screamed all through the night while they threatened to kill her untill she was rescued by the state vigilante security service.

The suspect Mr. Christopher Abraham, 37 years a native of Ndoro in Ekeremor Local Government council area, claimed that the victim is his girl friend that he spends his money for, but discovered that she cheated on him with other men. and that was why he invited her and they had argument and he went physical with her out of anger."

He also claimed that the gun belongs to his friend, who he identified as Efe who is now at large.

SOLDIER ALLEGEDLY K!LLED 25 YR OLD LADY IN PORT-HARCOURT, FAMILY SEEKS JUSTICE THIS HAPPEN 12 HOURS AGO

25-year-old lady, Damietta Green, is lying critically wounded in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital after she was hit by a bullet suspected to have been fired by a soldier.

An eyewitness said the incident occurred close to the popular Rachael Hotel and opposite a branch of First Bank.

“Soldiers who are posted on guard duty at the Nigeria Correctional Centre (Prison) facility, usually mount roadblocks around the area to extort money from transporters of illegal refined petroleum product (kpofire),” one source said

Various sources said the madness was triggered when a Toyota Camry car suspected to be conveying the illicit product refused to stop.

“The soldier pursued the car and jumped on the bonnet. When the car refused to stop, he started shooting indiscriminately.

“There were many vehicles trapped in the gridlock caused by the checkpoint and the victim was in one of those vehicles, a Lexus 330 salon car,” a source said.

It was learnt that the errant driver of the Toyota Camry escaped the scene unhurt, but the vehicle was towed to the nearby Central Police Station.

Other passengers in the car told our reporter at UPTH on Thursday night that they were going home from a sales meeting when the driver of the Lexus car (registration number Abuja ABC 26 GX) offered them a ride.

“We know him (driver) in Town (a suburb of the city) and he offered us a ride home. We were at the checkpoint when the shooting started,” one of the victim’s friends said.

Seven reasons to avoid eating Ponmo

Animal hides, locally known as ponmo, in Yoruba and kanda in Igbo is a popular supplement in soups enjoyed by many Nigerians.

Many Nigerians are simply at home with ponmo consumption but the recent announcement by the Federal Government proposing legislation to ban the consumption of animal skin to revive the comatose leather industry has sparked mixed reactions.

In July 2019, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) warned Nigerians to be careful when buying Ponmo.

NAFDAC DG Moji Adeyeye said their investigations revealed: “Unscrupulous businessmen and traders are now diverting animal hides meant for industrial use into the food chain for consumption”.

Although, different health experts have argued for and against the nutritional value of Ponmo, it has not stopped those who love it (Ponmo) to stop consuming it. In fact, it has become a daily staple delicacy for consumption.

But what are the hazards attached to eating Ponmo:

1. Most of these animal hides are meant for industrial use. The hides which are meant for industrial use, have found their way into the food market. It is therefore harmful, unsafe and unfit for human consumption.

2. Some of the animal hides are sometimes pre-treated with industrial chemicals, which are not of food grade and are toxic and injurious to human health.

3. The imported animal hides are meant for industrial use by leather industries for the manufacturing of items such as shoes, bags, belts and others.

4. Two likely causes of importing and buying the ponmo are that it is cheaper than the ones produced and sold locally. The importers therefore feed on the ignorance of Nigerians who are unable to distinguish between the one fit for consumption and the harmful one.

5. Livestock farmers are advised to note that industrial animal hides cannot and should not be used in the manufacture of animal feed.

Buildings Razed As Tanker Explodes In Ogun

A fuel-laden tanker has exploded at the boundary between Olambe and Matogun, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The truck driver was said to be conveying the product to a filling station in the area when he lost control of the vehicle due to the bad road.

Emergency workers say no lives were lost but buildings were razed in the resulting inferno.
