Tragic news has confirmed that Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna, has passed away after a devastating accident involving a Dangote truck in Auchi, Edo State. Ruth, who had recently graduated from Auchi Polytechnic, was hit by the truck on August 13, 2025, and suffered severe injuries, including the loss of one leg.

Despite receiving medical treatment and support from Dangote Group, Ruth succumbed to her injuries on August 31, 2025.

Edo State Govt Cracks Down on Cultism: Declares Wanted Cult Leaders, Seals Shrines.

The Edo State Government has intensified its anti-cultism war sealing properties linked to suspected cult leaders and declaring them wanted.
In a coordinated operation, security operatives raided locations in Egor and Uhunmwode LGAs, uncovering a shrine and recovering fi****ms.

NASS proposes new salary structure for legislative aides to federal lawmakers.

The National Assembly is indeed considering a special salary structure for legislative aides attached to the 469 federal lawmakers in the Senate and House of Representatives.
According to the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, the current conditions of service for legislative aides are modeled after civil service templates, which don't account for the peculiarities of their jobs.
He emphasized that legislative aides have no job security since their tenure is tied to their principals, and ranking is often not based on competence.
The average salary for a legislative aide at the National Assembly allegedly is around ₦158,000 per month, with senior legislative aides earning between ₦2 million and ₦3 million annually. However, salaries vary between the Senate and House of Representatives, with senior aides in the Senate typically earning more.

A disturbing video has gone viral showing armed men, believed to be operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi, also known as the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, storming a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) lodge in Anambra State. The operatives brutally assaulted a female corps member, Jennifer Edema Elohor, and her colleagues, accusing them of being "Yahoo people" (internet fraudsters) despite their valid NYSC identification cards and uniforms.

The video footage shows Elohor being beaten, stripped naked, and left bloodied, with her colleagues and eyewitnesses pleading for the assault to stop.

As at the time of this report, the Anambra State Government has taken swift action by arresting and detaining the operatives involved. Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, described the assault as "unfortunate and unacceptable". The government has assured the public that disciplinary measures will be taken, and justice will be served.

Edo government cracks down on extravagant graduation parties! Say no more graduation party for Nursery and primary schools in Edo state.

The Edo State Ministry of Education has introduced new policies to enhance the quality of education in the state.

Graduation ceremonies are only allowed for pupils completing Basic Education (Primary 1-JSS 3) and Senior Secondary 3 (SSS 3) and
Only modest celebrations will be permitted, and prom parties are strictly prohibited.

Nursery/kindergarten and primary 6 pupils are not allowed to hold graduation ceremonies or parties.
Mandatory Entrepreneurship Skills Training.
All JSS 3 students will undergo compulsory entrepreneurship skills training before graduation.
Students will receive two certificates: the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and a Skills Acquisition Certificate in their chosen trade subject.
