An Open Letter to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Dear President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
I write this letter as a concerned Nigerian who believes that the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property.
Mr. President, Nigerians are not asking for miracles. We are asking for safety. We are asking for the basic assurance that citizens can travel on our roads, attend school, work on their farms, worship freely, and sleep peacefully in their homes without fear of kidnappers, terrorists, bandits, and violent criminals.
Every day, families are devastated by abductions, attacks, and killings across different parts of the country. Communities live in fear. Parents worry about the safety of their children. Farmers are afraid to cultivate their land. Businesses struggle in an atmosphere of insecurity.
As President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, you occupy the highest public office in the land. With that office comes immense responsibility. Nigerian taxpayers fund the institutions of government, including the Presidency, the military, the police, and other security agencies. The purpose is clear: to secure the nation and protect its people.
Mr. President, you are being well compensated as a public servant. Nigerians therefore expect results, not excuses. They expect decisive leadership, effective security coordination, intelligence-driven operations, and measurable progress in the fight against insecurity.
This is not a partisan appeal. It is not about politics. It is about human lives.
The kidnapping of schoolchildren, attacks on communities, and the growing sense of helplessness among citizens should concern every leader entrusted with public authority. Every Nigerian life matters. Every family deserves protection. Every child deserves to go to school without fear.
History will not judge leaders by the speeches they made, the promises they gave, or the ceremonies they attended. History will judge leaders by how effectively they protected the people entrusted to their care.
Mr. President, Nigerians need more than assurances. They need action. They need security. They need results.
Please do the job you were elected and empowered to do: protect Nigerians.
Respectfully,
A Concerned Nigerian Citizen
