Summer holidays should be about learning crafts! Formal education is not enough!
When I saw this I was so much in love with it and it resonates with my advocacy that this a way forward for ndi Igbo. Our children should be enrolled to learn different crafts like carpentry, mechanic, tiling, electrical wiring, different programs in ITC, backery, fashion and designs, construction and so forth directly from the local people who are practically in the field and not from a pure academic perspective. The experiences of these local people is not found in any book. Lets engage our children with thier future in view especially with the reality of Nigeria of today. School, formal education is not enough. This should be what they do during summer holidays and not holiday academic lesson.
"Nwaanyị Ocha and her husband Ezenwa enrolled their son Chijioke in a Mercedes-Benz repair course in Enugu. He began learning how to repair Mercedes-Benz vehicles in September last year.
Chijioke does not attend extra lessons after school; instead, he spends his afternoons at his mechanic master's shop. After nine months of learning, Chijioke can now handle minor repairs on Mercedes vehicles, such as changing the oil, replacing brake pads, and changing oil seals, among other minor tasks."
