It was yet another show of grit and tactical intelligence as Nsit Atai senior side recorded a hard-fought 1โ€“0 victory over Ibesikpo Asutan in the ongoing Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

The decisive moment came in the second half when Nsit Atai converted from a well-placed free kick, breaking the deadlock in what had been a tense encounter. The goal proved enough to seal the win, as the teamโ€™s defensive organization and disciplined play kept their opponents at bay until the final whistle.

The clash was a true test of football artistry, with both teams displaying tactical sharpness, but Nsit Atai showed greater composure in decisive moments. Their ability to absorb pressure and transition swiftly into attack highlighted the maturity of the side.

However, it was mixed fortunes for the Nsit Atai junior team, who bowed out after a dramatic penalty shootout loss to Uyo. After a goalless stalemate in regulation time, Uyo proved sharper from the spot, winning 5โ€“4 to advance.

Despite the setback in the junior category, the senior teamโ€™s progress offers hope and pride for the Nsit Atai contingent. With their place in the next round now secured, the team will look to build on their momentum as the festival intensifies.

All Eyes on Nsit Atai Ahead of 2025 Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival

With the 2025 Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival just a day away, one local government area has become the talk of the stateโ€™s sporting communityโ€”Nsit Atai.

The council is not only preparing to participate; it is setting the pace in terms of organisation, athlete readiness, and community support. From athletics to weightlifting, and from combat sports to football, Nsit Atai has quietly built a formidable squad that many believe could upset traditional powerhouses at the Games.

Part of Nsit Ataiโ€™s growing reputation comes from the councilโ€™s deliberate investment in its athletes. Local officials have offered training support and motivational incentives, ensuring that every competitor goes into the festival with both confidence and pride. These efforts are already paying off, with Nsit Atai athletes showing sparks of brilliance.

The festival, scheduled to open on Monday, 8 September at Uyo Township Stadium, will spread across iconic venues such as the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Eket Stadium, and Tower of Ivory Schools. For Nsit Atai, this multi-sport setting provides the perfect stage to showcase its blend of raw grassroots talents and experienced performers.

Beyond chasing medals, Nsit Ataiโ€™s participation carries a symbolic weight. The council sees the festival as an opportunity to project its youth strength, attract attention to its untapped sporting potential, and write its name boldly in the history of Akwa Ibom sports.

As the Main Organising Committee fine-tunes arrangements, excitement is building back home. From villages to town halls, residents of Nsit Atai are rallying behind their athletes, convinced that the 2025 edition could be the councilโ€™s defining moment.

One thing is certain, when the Games flame is lit, Nsit Atai will not just be taking part; it will be taking charge.

PRESS RELEASE

Suspension of Activities of Nsit Atai Studentsโ€™ Association of Nigeria (NASAN) Worldwide

The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has directed the immediate suspension of all activities of the Nsit Atai Studentsโ€™ Association of Nigeria (NASAN) Worldwide.

This decision has become necessary following the persistent inability of the association to conduct its elections and operate in unity, despite the considerable support and funds provided by the present administration to ensure free, fair, and credible student elections. To prevent further crises and forestall any breakdown of law and order, the Chairman has taken this decisive step in the overall interest of peace and stability.

Accordingly, the Nsit Atai Local Government Council will cease to recognize NASAN Worldwide until further notice. Any individual or group parading themselves under the name of NASAN Worldwide during this period of suspension does so unlawfully and will not be recognized by the Council or relevant authorities.

The Executive Chairman, however, reaffirms that his office remains open to all genuine students of Nsit Atai origin who may seek assistance, support, or constructive engagement with the Local Government.

This suspension takes immediate effect from Friday, 5th September, 2025.

Signed:
Obong Elder Sunday Udia
Council Secretary
