Saraki Commends Peaceful PDP Ward Congresses in Kwara

Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party ward congresses held across the 193 wards of Kwara State.

Saraki, in a statement signed by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, and a copy made available to Sobi FM described the exercise as a reflection of the PDP’s unity and internal democracy.

He noted that the massive turnout of members underscored the party’s readiness to reclaim power in the state.

While congratulating the newly elected ward executives, the former Senate President charged them to see their emergence as a call to service, urging them to embrace inclusivity, fairness, and dedication in their responsibilities.

Saraki assured members of his continued support for the party’s growth and cohesion, while also calling on stakeholders at all levels to remain steadfast ahead of future political contests.

Kwara PDP Announces Commencement of Congresses to Elect New Executive Committees across the state.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has announced plans to commence its congresses across the 16 local government areas of the state to elect new Executive Committee members from the ward to the state level.

The excercise will kick off tomorrow, Friday, September 13, 2025, to elect new ward Executive Committee members for all the 193 electoral wards of the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, shortly after the just-concluded Expanded Excos meeting held at the State Secretariat in Ilorin.

Adewara explained that the exercise is in strict compliance with the extant provisions of the PDP Constitution as well as the guidelines and timetable earlier released by the National Headquarters of the party.

“Take notice that, in line with the party’s constitution and the timetable communicated by our national secretariat, the Kwara PDP will begin its congresses to elect new Executive Committee members, starting with the Ward Congresses on Saturday, September 13, 2025,” the statement read.

The party further directed that any executive member at the ward or local government levels who has served for a cumulative period of eight years or more in an executive capacity should step aside to give room for new members to contest available positions.

Adewara added that, “Where zoning arrangements are applicable, owing to the peculiarities of wards and local government areas, the competence of individual candidates will also be a key consideration.”

The party, while assuring all members that relevant authorities have been duly notified and are expected to be around during the excercise also enjoined all stakeholders and members to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly throughout the process, stressing that the congresses must reflect the PDP’s commitment to a free, fair and credible internal electoral exercise.
