اللَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لاَ تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلاَ نَوْمٌ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلاَ يُحِيطُونَ بِشَىْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلاَّ بِمَا شَاءَ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَلاَ يَؤُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

🎍TRANSLITERATION.

🎯'A 'oothu billaahi minash-Shaytaanir-rajeem.
Allaahu laa 'ilaaha 'illaa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyoom, laa ta'khuthuhu sinatun wa laa nawm, lahu maa fis-samaawaati wa maa fil-'ardh, man thai-lathee yashfa'u 'indahu 'illaa bi'ithnih, ya'lamu maa bayna 'aydeehim wa maa khalfahum, wa laa yuheetoona bishay'im-min 'ilmihi 'illaa bimaa shaa'a, wasi'a kursiyyuhus samaawaati wal'ardh, wa laa ya'ooduhu hifdhuhumaa, wa Huwal- 'Aliyyul- 'Adheem.

🎆Recite suratul ikhlas thrice, suratul falaq thrice and suratul nas thrice each.

🌄أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْكُ لِلَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، رَبِّ أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَ مَا فِيْ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَخَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهُ، وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَشَرِّ مَا بَعْدَهُ، رَبِّ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكَسَلِ، وَسُوءِ الْكِبَرِ، رَبِّ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ فِيْ النَّارِ وَعَذَابٍ فِيْ الْقَبْرِ

🌊'Asbahnaa wa 'asbahal-mulku lillaahi walhamdu lillaahi, laa 'ilaaha 'illallaahu wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa Huwa 'alaa kulli shay'in Qadeer. Rabbi 'as'aluka khayra maa fee haathal-yawmi wa khayra maa ba'dahu wa 'a'oothu bika min sharri maa fee haathal-yawmi wa sharri maa ba'dahu, Rabbi 'a'oothu bika minal-kasali, wa soo'il-kibari, Rabbi 'a'oothu bika min 'athaabin fin-naari wa 'athaabin fil-qabri.

*Remember to:*
🌳 *perform your Jumuhah bath anytime before Khutubah just like you perform Jannabah*

🌳 *go to the masjid with very beautiful wears you have*

🌳 *go to the masjid for Jumuhah as early as possible*

🌳 *observe two rakat nãfilah before sitting inside the masjid even if Khutubah has commenced*

🌳 *devote your attention to the Khutubah and avoid being distracted*

🌳 *be speechless during Khutubah. This, to avoid getting your Jumuhah reward forfeited*

🌳 *recite Sūratul-Kahf before Magrib. Very essential!*

🌳 *do more Asolãtu for the best creature ever, our Role Model, Mentor, Leader by example, Teacher and the last Prophet of Allãh, Muhammad bn Abdillãh bn Abdil-Mutollib*

Imam Muslim, our beloved Prophet s.a.w made Doa to Allah to forgive the sins, committed in the previous year, for all the people who fast on the day of Ashura.

صِيامُ يومِ عاشُوراءَ، إِنِّي أحْتَسِبُ على اللهِ أنْ يُكَفِّرَ السنَةَ التِي قَبْلَهُ

“Fasting on the Day of Ashura, I hope will expiate the sins of the previous year.”

(Sahih Muslim)

Ibn Abbas r.a reported that Rasulullah s.a.w prioritised the fast on the day of Ashura over other days, besides the days in Ramadan, he said:

ما رَأَيْتُ النبيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ يَتَحَرَّى صِيَامَ يَومٍ فَضَّلَهُ علَى غيرِهِ إلَّا هذا اليَومَ؛ يَومَ عَاشُورَاءَ، وهذا الشَّهْرَ. يَعْنِي شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ

“I have never seen Rasulullah s.a.w so eager to fast like he is for Ashura and prioritising it, besides Ramadan.”

(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

However, it is important to note that fasting on the day of Ashura is a voluntary act (sunnah) and not an obligation (wajib), as the Prophet s.a.w mentioned:

مَنْ شَاءَ صَامَهُ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ لَمْ يَصُمْهُ

"Fast if you wish and those who do not, are not obliged to do so.”

(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

*3. When should Muslims fast for Ashura?*

The fast of Ashura falls on the 10th day of Muharram. However, it is also encouraged for Muslims to fast a day before and after Ashura, i.e. 9th and 11th Muharram as well.

The Prophet s.a.w said in a hadith:

صُومُوا قَبْلَهُ يَوْمًا، أَوْ بَعْدَهُ يَوْمًا

"Fast on the day before and the day after Ashura.”

(Musnad Ahmad)

Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim mentioned that there are three levels of fasting on Ashura, the first one being ‘the best’ and most complete, followed by the other degrees accordingly:

1. Fasting for 3 consecutive days on the 9, 10 & 11 Muharram.

2. Fasting on 9 and 10 Muharram only.

3. Fast on the 10th of Muharram only.

However, there is no obligation. In fact, you may also fast on both the 10th and 11th Muharram. Feel free to perform what is most convenient and feasible for you.
