EXIT STATEMENT BY RT. HON. VICTOR OCHEI

My dear political associates, supporters, friends, and the good people of Delta State,

After deep reflections and wide consultations, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to formally resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and move on to continue my political journey elsewhere.

In 2016, I joined the All Progressives Congress with sincerity of purpose and a strong belief in the vision and future of the party. Over the last ten years, I devoted myself wholeheartedly to building and strengthening the APC at all levels. Together with many committed party faithfuls, we expanded the party’s reach, deepened its structures, mobilized support across communities, and worked tirelessly to give the party relevance and visibility within our political environment. Long before many who currently occupy positions within the party joined the political family they now belong to, I had already committed myself to the ideals of leadership, service, grassroots development, and the pursuit of a better society for our people.

I leave the party proud of the progress we made together. We nurtured relationships, built bridges across divides, encouraged participation among the youth and women, and contributed meaningfully to democratic growth and political engagement within our state and beyond.

However, growth remains a constant necessity in every institution, political movement and human endeavour. Leadership must continually evolve to reflect inclusion, mutual respect, fairness, and the aspirations of the people. It is in recognition of this need for broader growth and the continuation of my political convictions that I have chosen to chart a new course.

This decision is not borne out of bitterness, resentment, or hostility toward anyone. Rather, it is inspired by my enduring commitment to service, progress, and the political future I envision for our people.

I remain grateful to the many loyal supporters, leaders, stakeholders, and party members who stood with me throughout this journey. Your friendship, trust, and dedication will always be appreciated and remembered.

As I move forward to continue my political journey from the APC, I do so with hope, renewed determination, and faith in the future. I urge all my supporters and associates to remain peaceful, focused, and committed to the democratic ideals we all share.

May God continue to bless Delta State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Rt. Hon.(Engr.) Victor O. Ochei (Esq)

PRESS STATEMENT

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege Joins the National Democratic Congress, Declares for Delta Central Senate 2027

Date: Thursday, May 28, 2026

Fellow Deltans,

Today, I formally announce my decision to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress [NDC].

This decision is the product of weeks of reflection, wide consultations, and honest conversations with the people I serve. I have consulted with my political associates nationwide, supporters, and stakeholders who are the backbone of our communities. Across all these engagements, one truth stood out: Deltans want leadership that listens first, acts with integrity, and delivers results that can be seen and felt in daily life.

I thank the leadership of the NDC for reaching out and engaging me in this process: Senator Seriake Dickson, Leader and Founder; Senator Moses Cleopas, National Chairman; Governor Peter Obi, Presidential Aspirant; and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and NDC Chieftain. Their commitment to building a credible, people-first alternative gives me confidence that the NDC is the right platform for Delta State and Nigeria.

The NDC represents that kind of leadership. It is a party built on the principles of inclusion, accountability, grassroots participation, and true federalism. It is a platform where decisions are not made in closed rooms but through open consultation with stakeholders and members. It is a platform where public office is treated as a duty to the people, not a privilege for a few. After careful consideration, I am convinced that the NDC offers the clearest path to advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria.

On this platform, I will contest for the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections. Let me be clear: this is not about me. This is about the mandate you entrusted to me in 2019 and the renewed call from our people for my return to the Senate to provide effective representation. That call is loud, consistent, alive, and urgent. I cannot ignore it, and I will not betray the trust you have placed in me.

Delta State holds a position of immense responsibility in Nigeria. We are among the largest producers of oil and gas, resources that have sustained the national economy for decades. Our agricultural lands are fertile and capable of feeding millions. Our business community has shown remarkable resilience despite harsh economic conditions. Our young people are educated, innovative, and ready to lead if given the opportunity. Yet the reality on the ground does not match this potential.

In too many communities, roads have collapsed and remain impassable for months. Primary health centers lack drugs, equipment, and staff. Schools struggle with overcrowding and inadequate facilities. Young graduates return home without jobs, and small business owners battle a hostile environment and poor infrastructure. Meanwhile, federal allocations to Delta State have consistently run into hundreds of billions of naira annually. The gap between these resources and the lived reality of our people is unacceptable.

Right now, too much of Delta’s wealth sits in CBN accounts while our people suffer from bad roads, collapsed hospitals, and abandoned communities. This is not governance. It is a failure of leadership and a betrayal of public trust. Deltans deserve better than press releases, billboards, and photo-ops. Nigeria deserves better than a political class that treats public office as a personal business.

I believe this situation can and must change. Change requires a platform committed to discipline, transparency, and service. The National Democratic Congress was built for this moment. It stands for accountability, for justice, for inclusion, and for true federalism. It is the only platform strong enough to challenge the cycle of failure and return power to the people where it belongs. That is why I am joining the NDC.

I know what it takes to build a political structure and make it competitive in Delta State. We did it before for the APC when many said it was impossible. We mobilized at the grassroots, organized our people, and changed the political equation. I bring that same resolve and experience to the NDC. Our immediate priority will be to strengthen the party from the ward level upward, register new members, and prepare a credible slate of candidates for the 2027 elections.

I will not go to Abuja to warm the bench. I am going to fight for Delta Central, and as your senator, my focus will remain on delivering representation that matters. I will take the concerns of Delta Central directly to the National Assembly and ensure they are debated, addressed, and followed through. I will push for fair allocation of federal projects and resources to our senatorial district. I will work to ensure that every kobo released to Delta State is accounted for and applied to projects that improve the lives of our people. I will also advocate for policies that create jobs, support small and medium enterprises, improve agricultural productivity, and expand access to quality healthcare and education.

I will represent Delta North, Delta South, and Delta Central with fairness and balance. A divided Delta is a weakened Delta. When we speak with one voice, Abuja listens. When we work together, we can secure the infrastructure, investments, and policies that our state deserves.

Beyond the Senate, the NDC will field candidates for the governorship and other elective positions who understand the challenges of Delta State and have the competence, humility, and character to address them. Nigeria itself needs a reset. We need leadership that truly restores hope, protects citizens, grows the economy, and respects the rule of law. I will work tirelessly for the victory of our presidential candidate and for a government that puts Nigerians first.

This is more than an election cycle. This is a defining moment for Delta State and for Nigeria. It is a choice between continuing with a system that rewards silence and mediocrity, or choosing a new direction built on accountability and service.

To the youth of Delta State: your time is now. Do not accept the lie that you must wait your turn. Organize in your communities, register to vote, and make your voices impossible to ignore. Your energy, creativity, and courage are the most powerful tools we have to change this state.

To the women who hold our families and communities together: mobilize your networks, your markets, your churches, and your neighborhoods. Your participation will determine the outcome of 2027.

To our elders and traditional rulers: your wisdom has guided us through difficult times before. Speak now for the generation coming behind you. Your voice gives legitimacy and direction to this movement.

And to every registered voter: your Permanent Voter’s Card is your greatest power. It is stronger than money, stronger than intimidation, and stronger than propaganda. Protect it, use it, and use it wisely in 2027.

In 2027, we will end the era of excuses, empty promises, and leaders who vanish after elections. We will return power to the people of Delta State and to the people of Nigeria. Together, under the banner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, we will reclaim Delta State. Together, we will reclaim Nigeria.

The work starts now. The time is now. The people are ready.

Signed:
His Excellency, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, KSJI
Deputy President of the 9th Senate and Obarisi of Urhoboland.

Breaking News emerging from Owhrode Community indicates growing tension over an alleged move to remove the community’s President-General, Comrade Ufuoma J. Ogheneovo, amid disagreements surrounding constitutional procedures and leadership succession.

According to information reaching our studio from concerned sources within the community, the crisis reportedly began when a group allegedly made moves to impeach the President-General while he was facing health challenges. The group was said to have backed Mr. Victor Bodo of the Usihian family to be sworn in as President-General, a move which reportedly received prayers from the Elders Council during a presentation ceremony.

However, community sources stated that the Usihian family later intervened, cautioning Mr. Victor Bodo and reaffirming that Comrade Ufuoma J. Ogheneovo remained the substantive President-General of the community despite his temporary health condition. It was further gathered that the family subsequently wrote to the Elders Council, maintaining that the community constitution provides for the Vice President-General to act in the absence or incapacity of the PG, rather than removing him from office.

Reports indicate that Mr. Victor Bodo himself was among the signatories to the letter submitted to the Elders Council and copied to the community executives.

As the controversy deepened, stakeholders allegedly convened a series of meetings involving various organs of the community, including the Emete, Evwheya, Uvwie-Ide Youth, and community executives, to deliberate on the issue.

Sources claimed that during a meeting held on May 1, 2026, most of the community organs reportedly opposed the impeachment move and instead recommended that the President-General be allowed to complete his tenure. The Emete group was said to have been absent from that meeting.

A subsequent town hall meeting held on May 2, 2026, reportedly attracted broad participation from community stakeholders. According to those present, the majority of attendees again supported allowing the PG to complete his tenure rather than face impeachment.

Further reports state that on May 8, 2026, Comrade Ufuoma J. Ogheneovo officially wrote to the Elders Council directing the Vice President-General to oversee affairs on his behalf pending his recovery.

However, tensions reportedly escalated after the Vice President-General allegedly received an impeachment letter dated May 12, 2026, and delivered on May 18, 2026. Sources sympathetic to the Vice PG claimed the action was taken because he insisted that the provisions of the community constitution should be followed.

The situation took another dramatic turn on May 20, 2026, when letters reportedly circulated among community organs announcing the removal of the President-General from office.

One of the major claims cited in the removal process, according to documents circulating within the community, was that the PG had previously served as Youth Chairman in his paternal home, Uduahahen, and therefore should not serve as President-General in Udualagba, described as his maternal home.

The development has since generated heated reactions among residents and stakeholders, with some accusing members of the Elders Council of disregarding the collective position earlier adopted by various organs of the community.

Concerned voices within the community are now warning that the disagreement could degenerate into a larger crisis if urgent intervention is not made.

Calls have therefore been made to the Udu Local Government Council, the Union of Udu Communities, and the Delta State Government to step into the matter and facilitate peace and constitutional resolution before tensions escalate further.

As of the time of filing this report, the Elders Council and other parties mentioned in the allegations had not officially responded to the claims.
