I Spent Less Than 500K on My Wedding and Had Over 300 Guests

Yes, you read that right.

In 2021, I got married with less than 500K, and we had over 300 guests. And guess what? We didn’t borrow a single naira.

Now, let me tell you why I’m sharing this.

I see a lot of young people delaying marriage because they think they need millions to make it happen. They focus on things that don’t really matter and keep pushing the important things aside.

This applies to both men and women.

When I wanted to marry, I had just started working. I didn’t even have an apartment to my name. But I knew one thing, I didn’t want to live in fornication.

One thing I strongly believe is this:
If you’re already enjoying the full benefits of marriage outside wedlock, you might never feel the need to actually get married.

So, I made a decision.

I looked for a woman who shared my values and aligned with my faith.

Someone who was ready to build with me, not just enjoy the rewards when everything was set.

Guess what?

I got an apartment just two months before the wedding. It was a small mini-flat with only a bed, a fan, a faulty refrigerator, and a hotplate.

That was all I had.

But she saw more than that.

She saw a man with a vision.

Today, the rest is history.

If I had waited to have "everything" before getting married, I might still be waiting today.

Marriage isn’t about how grand the wedding is, it’s about the journey after.

People are just overcomplicating marriage these days.

So, here’s my question: What do you think truly matters most when you’re planning to get married?

𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 is the 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚 we have, yet it is also the most 𝙪𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜. It moves forward relentlessly, never pausing for anyone. Every second that passes is a moment we can never get back, which is why we must use our time 𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙮.

Opportunities come and go like the 𝙩𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙨 of the 𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙖𝙣. Those who hesitate, procrastinate, or wait for the “𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩” often find themselves left behind. The world moves fast, and success belongs to those who take action, adapt quickly, and make the most of every opportunity.

𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙩 is the result of 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙙 time. Many people look back wishing they had started earlier, taken more chances, or pursued their dreams with more urgency. But the truth is, the 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 to start is 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙬. You can’t control 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚, but you can control 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙩.
