ÒGBÓMỌ̀ṢỌ́ NEEDS PEACE!

📍NOT JUST FROM THE CONFLICT BETWEEN KINGS AND CLERICS, BUT FROM THE SILENCE OF THOSE WHO SHOULD SPEAK.
📍FROM YOUTH BODIES LOSING THEIR PATH.
📍FROM RELIGIOUS LEADERS LOSING THEIR UNITY.

It’s time to put Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ first.

A few months back, Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ became a trending topic across social media, especially here on Facebook. From the controversial saga involving the Imam and his family which eventually pulled in the paramount ruler of Ogbomosoland. From that to issues of disunity among traditional rulers, the spotlight hasn’t shifted from our valiant city.

Just when we thought the tension would die down, yet another controversy surfaced. And yes, your guess is as good as mine: once again, it's Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ in the news.

📍 BUT WHY?

Am I the only concerned youth in Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ wondering why this is happening? Why is it that when our city should be enjoying the most peace, it seems to be drowning in conflict?

This is supposed to be a golden era our leaders, both in religion and tradition, are arguably the most educated, most well-traveled, and most exposed in our history. So why the division?

While no one expected an instant bromance between the Imperial Majesty and a religious leader who had previously declared his disapproval of the king’s ascension, perhaps due to personal or factional preferences, it’s still shocking that peace has remained elusive for this long. Especially considering both individuals: one young, educated, and spiritually grounded; the other, mature, enlightened, and regal.

But alas, when one is driven by hearsay and the other acts as though every whim is gospel, progress stalls. How else do you explain a party claiming to seek peace but dragging the matter to court?

📍 ROYAL FATHERS, CLERGYMEN & HYPOCRISY

Who would’ve thought that in an era filled with highly educated royal fathers, we’d still be witnessing ego-driven conflicts? We’ve seen kings publicly tongue-lash each other on social media and at public events. You’d think such drama was beneath them.

And then there’s the Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ Christian Association (CAN). With over 85% of our royal fathers being Christians, CAN has a unique opportunity to foster unity. Instead, what do we see? Division. Bias. Allegiances formed not on faith, but on personal preference.

Imagine what could happen if CAN brought together the three most senior royal fathers in Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ and the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church. That level of dialogue could reshape the atmosphere entirely. But we’re not seeing such efforts and that's a huge missed opportunity.

📍 OCYF — WHERE THEY GOT IT WRONG

What are you expecting to read here?

That the founders of the Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́ Community Youth Forum (OCYF) had a noble vision but stumbled in ex*****on? That they handed power to the wrong people? That internal issues like misappropriation and abuse of office are dragging the forum’s name through the mud?

Maybe all of the above.

But rather than fan the flames, let’s hold back a bit. I hear there are efforts to resolve the situation quietly, behind the scenes. So instead of casting blame, let’s encourage our friends, brothers, and sisters in OCYF to protect the image and interest of Ògbómọ̀ṣọ́. Our city deserves better.
