SWEET MOTHER’S SECRET TO CHILDREN SUCCESS
In the quiet town of Ajegunle lived a woman named Mama Tola. She was not rich, and her small food stall by the roadside was the only thing feeding her family. Yet, people often wondered why all her children were doing well in life.
Her first son, Kunle, was studying medicine at the university. Her daughter, Sade, had won a scholarship abroad. The youngest, Femi, was the best student in his secondary school.
Neighbors whispered among themselves.
“What is Mama Tola’s secret?” they asked.
One evening, a woman named Iya Bose visited Mama Tola after the market closed.
“Mama Tola,” she said softly, “please tell me the truth. How are your children becoming successful despite your struggles?”
Mama Tola smiled gently and poured her visitor a cup of tea.
“My sister,” she began, “success is not always about money. It is about what a mother plants in the hearts of her children.”
Iya Bose listened carefully.
“When my children were young,” Mama Tola continued, “I taught them three things every single day: respect, discipline, and prayer.”
She pointed to an old wooden table nearby.
“Every night, no matter how tired we were, we sat together here. We read books, talked about their dreams, and prayed together.”
“But children can be stubborn,” Iya Bose replied.
Mama Tola laughed softly.
“Yes, they can. Kunle once wanted to join bad friends who skipped school. I warned him.”
Scene: Years Earlier
“Kunle,” Mama Tola said firmly, “bad company destroys bright futures.”
“But Mama, they are my friends,” Kunle argued.
She held his shoulders and looked into his eyes.
“A good friend pushes you forward, not backward.”
Kunle stayed silent.
That night, Mama Tola prayed beside his bed.
“God, guide my son onto the right path.”
Slowly, Kunle changed. He focused on his studies and became one of the best students in school.
Back in the present, Iya Bose wiped tears from her eyes.
“So your secret is love and discipline?”
Mama Tola nodded.
“And consistency. Children become what they see every day. If they see anger, they grow in anger. If they see hard work, honesty, and kindness, they grow in wisdom.”
Just then, Sade walked into the house carrying groceries.
“Mama,” she smiled, “I bought your medicine.”
Mama Tola smiled proudly.
After Sade left, Iya Bose shook her head in amazement.
“Your children truly honor you.”
Mama Tola looked toward the sky.
“A mother’s greatest reward is not wealth. It is seeing her children become good people.”
From that day on, Iya Bose changed how she raised her own children. She spent more time with them, encouraged education, corrected them with love, and prayed for them daily.
Years later, her children also became successful.
And throughout the town, people began to understand the powerful secret behind children’s success:
A sweet mother’s love, guidance, discipline, and prayers can shape a brighter future than riches ever could.
