This is to remind all taxable adults of Idume Autonomous Community, both at home and in the Diaspora, that the *Annual August General Assembly and Election* will hold as follows:

*TOWN UNION ELECTION: IDUME CARETAKER COMMITTEE AND STAKEHOLDERS INTERFACE WITH MBAITOLI COUNCIL BOSS*

*Declare Saturday, 15th August 2026 as Official Date for Idume Annual General Assembly/Election*

*Mbaitoli LGA* - In line with the directive of the Imo State Government led by *Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma*, the Caretaker Committee of *Idume Autonomous Community Town Union*, led by *Mr. Hillary Anodere*, was today at the Mbaitoli Council Headquarters to officially notify the Council Chairman of the upcoming election in the community.

*Chief (Sir) D.D. Iwuoha, Nze M.E.U. Madu, Hon. Kelechi Ejiakonye, Mr. Collins Onuoha* - Vice Chairman, *Arc. Emenike Edward* - Committee Secretary, *Mr. Elias Ekene Irennadi* - Committee Public Relations Officer, *Mr. Modestus Ibekwe* - Treasurer, *Mr. Nzubechi Okehie* - Member Representing Ugwunenye Village, and *Mr. Acho Ibemere* - Member Representing Abachie Village.

*Purpose of Visit*
Presenting the purpose of the visit, *Hon. Kelechi Ejiakonye* thanked the Chairman for his support during the visit of *Hon. Akarachi Amadi* to Idume. He formally informed him about the forthcoming election of the Idume Autonomous Community Town Union and the decision to hold the Annual General Assembly on *Saturday, 15th August 2026*.

*Council Chairman’s Response*
Responding, the *Council Chairman, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo*, described Idume as one of the most populated autonomous communities in Mbaitoli.
_"They have vibrant people - the youths, elders, and mothers,"_ he said.

_"You cannot mention the stronghold of our party, APC, in Mbaitoli without mentioning Idume. Idume is peculiar as far as Mbaitoli politics is concerned."_

He noted that although there were misunderstandings in the past, their visit today showed that Idume people are peace-loving.
_"I will ensure that the peace you are seeking fully takes root. I will make consultations. From our general observation, we have seen those who have the support of the people."_

He finally urged the Caretaker Committee to submit a formal written notification of the election addressed to his office.

The meeting ended on a note of unity and cooperation.

The grand finale of the football tournament of Idume women wing took place yesterday.

The epoch making event attracted lots of personalities in Idume. Who donated generously to the development of female football tournament in Idume.

Among them are Mr Sunny Eze, Rev Ugochukwu Nwanedo , Mr Longinus Eze, Mr John Egwuekwe and the caretaker Committee chairman Mr Hillary Anodere among others.

Not forgetting the treasurer of IDU who doubles as the Commentator, Mr Modestus Ibekwe and the secretary general Arc. Emenike Edward. The organizer and technical adviser of the women football tournament who also doubles as the president general of the women wing, Mrs Ijeoma Nwaokorobia.

Hopefully the tournament will witness great improvement in subsequent editions. The game made the community lively this Yuletide.

Yesterday being 26th of December 2025. We had a successful Idume day Annual general Assembly.

We highly commended Idume people in diaspora under the leadership of Apostle Alphonsus Achinulo. For remembering Idume roads. Their representative at the meeting, Pastor Charles Iheanatu assured us that it is a sign of good things to come in our community. He pointed out that Idume in diaspora is grading only the exit roads in Idume for now.

Other issues of Paramount importance was also deliberated at the meeting. Such as:

Education/enrollment into our community primary school.

Security

Constitutional review

Payment of electricity bills

Other source of revenue generation

Renovation of I.D.U Secretariat

Today, the caretaker Committee chairman Mr Hillary Anodere duly represented by the secretary. Arc. Emenike Edward flagged off the grading of Idume Major roads.

This project was sponsored by Idume people in Diaspora under the leadership of Apostle Alphonsus Achinulo. Some of the roads include:
