Councilorship Race Intensifies in Atte Community, Akoko-Edo LGA

As the councilorship election draws closer in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, political activities have continued to gather momentum across the various communities. Atte community, which falls under Ward 08, is not left out as the number of aspirants vying for the councilorship position continues to rise.

At the moment, no fewer than ten individuals have officially indicated interest in the position, with more still expected to declare before the election timetable closes. Already, campaign posters, banners, and publicity materials are being circulated across social media platforms, underscoring the competitiveness of the contest.

The aspirants, drawn from different backgrounds, are each presenting themselves as credible representatives capable of advancing the interests of the people of Ward 08. While they bring diverse leadership qualities and experience to the table, political observers note that only one will ultimately secure the mandate of the people.

The contest has further heightened political discussions within the community, as stakeholders, party loyalists, and residents weigh the chances of the different contenders. For now, however, the question of who will eventually emerge as councilor remains unanswered.

If one person is arrested for misconduct, the other involved should also be arrested. Recently, a popular Yoruba musician, Wasiu Ayinde, was seen in an uncivilized display, attempting to stop a moving airplane. Yet, no arrest was made.

Meanwhile, a lady who also behaved in a manner deemed unpleasant was arrested immediately. The difference? The musician likely has connections in high places, while the lady may know no one in authority.

This is a clear example of bias by both the government and the airport authorities a system where the powerful go free, and the powerless are punished without hesitation.

In celebration of the Atte New Yam Festival, the good people of Atte Community came out in large numbers to mark this beautiful cultural tradition. Although the celebration had been paused for many years, we are glad to see it revived once again.

We sincerely appreciate the organizers and every member of the Atte Community for making this year’s New Yam Festival a success.

Once again, Odeda has demonstrated significant community spirit by coming together in large numbers to continue the repairs on the damaged road in Atte community, located in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area. This action has been necessitated by the lack of response from the Government. We earnestly appeal to both the Federal and State Governments to address this pressing issue, as this community has been neglected for an extended period. It is untenable for us to continue residing and traversing on such deteriorated roads. The video clearly illustrates the poor condition of the road.

Despite our consistent participation in elections, we find ourselves continually neglected.

Today, the Okagba youth in Atte have taken the bull by the horn by coming out in large numbers to repair the long-abandoned Atte road.

This selfless act is a clear demonstration of their commitment to community development and their desire for a better future. The youth are using their own strength and limited resources to do what successive governments have failed to do.

They are appealing to both the federal and state governments to hear their cry. The Atte community has been neglected for many years with no access to good roads, healthcare facilities, or other basic infrastructure.

It is time for the government to remember Atte and provide the support and development it rightly deserves.
