We are delighted to provide an update on the ongoing reconstruction of the Akute–Lambe–Agbado Road in Ifo Constituency II, Phase 1, covering a 9.2-kilometre stretch, including sections of major adjoining roads.

So far, commendable progress has been recorded. Scarification of all failed sections has been carried out, involving the removal of defective asphalt and the excavation of unsuitable materials. These have been replaced with quality backfill sourced from the borrow pit, thereby ensuring a solid and lasting foundation for the new road.

In the next phase, our engineers will proceed with replacing all remaining unsuitable materials with quality laterite, followed by drainage excavation and construction. This crucial step will guarantee effective water flow, prevent erosion, and sustain the durability of the road.

Our commitment goes beyond simply constructing roads—we are delivering resilient infrastructure that enhances ease of movement, promotes commerce, and improves the daily lives of our people in Ifo Local Government and across Ogun State.

This project is yet another clear demonstration of our ISEYA agenda in action—building our future together, one community at a time.

Free Entry to Olumo Rock Ends Saturday, August 23rd

The Ogun State Government wishes to express its profound appreciation to the general public, tourists, and visitors for the overwhelming and unprecedented turnout recorded at the newly renovated Olumo Rock Tourist Complex.

This remarkable response is a testament to the vision and commitment of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, in repositioning Olumo Rock as a world-class tourist destination of pride for Ogun State, Nigeria, and the global community.

As part of this vision, His Excellency graciously introduced a free entry initiative to give residents and visitors the opportunity to rediscover and appreciate the cultural and historical significance of Olumo Rock following its renovation. This objective has been fully achieved, with thousands of visitors taking advantage of the initiative.

However, the unprecedented influx of visitors has raised concerns about overcrowding and public safety. At certain points, the volume of the crowd posed risks that could have resulted in a stampede but for the swift and professional intervention of security agencies and on-site personnel.

In view of this, and in line with the government’s priority to safeguard lives, His Excellency has directed that the free entry initiative will come to an end on Saturday, 23rd August, 2025. Thereafter, normal access procedures will resume.

The Ogun State Government regrets any inconvenience this adjustment may cause and assures the public of its unwavering commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience for all visitors to the Olumo Rock Tourist Complex.

Signed,

Mr. Tokunbo Talabi

Court to Senator Daniel: Present Property Documents Within Two-Week Period Ordered by Ogun Govt

The Ogun State High Court sitting in Sagamu on Tuesday directed former Governor Gbenga Daniel to present the necessary documents requested by the state government.

At the resumed hearing of Suit No: HCS/371/2025, Otunba Justus Gbenga Daniel and Anor vs. the Governor of Ogun State and Others, Justice O. S. Oloyede directed Senator Daniel to present his papers to the government in line with the request made to him and other residents in the area.

O.T. Olaotan (Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice), who represents the government, alongside R.B. Kadiri (DCL), A.E. Odukoya, and W.A. Onawole informed the court that an interlocutory injunction and counter-affidavits have been filed in response to the motion by Daniel and served on the Claimants’ counsel.

The counsel noted that the matter was not ripe for hearing and that the court was also not inclined to take the application.

However, A.O. Kotoye (SAN), with O.T. Are and A.O. Adeniyi for the Claimants applied for the court to extend the interim order earlier granted, which will automatically abate after seven days.

The defense argued that the court should order the Claimants/Applicants to take advantage of the two-week extension announced by the government and furnish the Ministry of Physical Planning with the necessary documents, which others served with the same notices have been complying with.

Justice Oloyede thereafter asked the parties to maintain the status quo. He also urged the parties to explore settlement options.

He further directed the Claimants/Applicants to take advantage of the extension and furnish the relevant government agency with the necessary documents as requested by the government.

Counsel for the Claimants and Defendants both agreed that the matters be adjourned to 13th October 2025.

The court consequently adjourned the matter to the date agreed by the parties for the hearing of the pending applications.

Ogun Announces August 20 as Public Holiday to Mark Isese Day

The Ogun State Government has announced Wednesday , August 20, 2026, as a public holiday to commemorate the annual Isese Day celebration.

It would be recalled that August 20 was formally declared a public holiday in 2023, following a motion passed by the Ogun State House of Assembly and the concurrent approval of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The day is set aside to celebrate Yoruba religion and traditions.

In a statement, the state government said the introduction of Isese Day as a public holiday reflects Governor Abiodun's recognition of the vital role that Yoruba heritage and practices play in the state's identity and cultural landscape.

"Isese Day serves as an opportunity for adherents of the Yoruba religion to honour their ancestors, engage in traditional practices, and promote the values and teachings inherent in their spiritual beliefs.

"The celebration not only fosters a sense of community among practitioners but also invites the broader society to appreciate and respect the rich cultural tapestry that the Yoruba tradition contributes to Nigeria," the statement said.
