GOVERNOR ODODO HOSTS 30TH CONFERENCE OF AUDITORS-GENERAL OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS/AREA COUNCILS IN NIGERIA IN LOKOJA
Lokoja, Kogi State ā His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State, today hosts the 30th Conference of Auditors-General of Local Government/Area Councils in Nigeria through the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government, Kogi State. The conference, holding in the Kogi State capital, has brought together Auditors-General from the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT to deliberate on critical issues affecting accountability at the grassroots.
With the theme, _āRepositioning Auditors General for Governance Excellence in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Towards Global Best Practices in Local Government Audit,ā_ the conference focuses on leveraging AI, data analytics, and global standards to strengthen transparency, block leakages, and improve service delivery in local governments. Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administrationās commitment to financial discipline and good governance, noting that repositioning the audit function is key to ensuring that resources meant for the people are properly accounted for and utilized. The gathering is expected to produce actionable resolutions that will reposition local government audit for greater efficiency, integrity, and impact across Nigeria.
