Ododo Is Stingy, How? Who Are Those Complaining?

Over the past few days, there has been a heated discussion on the media space between users who claim feelers from the street insinuates that the Chief Servant of the people, His Excellency, Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo is stingy. How true can this be?

Ever since the removal of fuel subsidy by the President, all states in Nigeria, including Kogi State have consistently received higher allocations than it used to be in decades. This is evident in the state’s balanced recurrent and capital expenditures — which has made Gov. Ododo the rave of the moment, loved by workers and indigenous, good people of the state.

When the state receives allocation from the federation’s account (FAAC) at the end of the month, it is common knowledge that the state government channels the money into recurrent and capital expenditures of the state. Only an administratively conscious government strikes a balance between the two — an expertise Ododo has displayed within the last couple of months.

On the state’s recurrent expenditure, Ododo did a thing with the state’s civil service reform— a working reform that has placed Ododo in the hearts of every civil servant in the state today. Cleared the state’s debts of over ninety eight billion naira (>N98B), all government offices running at maximum capacity with adequate funding. The recent absorption of the Kogi State Vigilantee Service (KSVS) into the state’s civil service commission, an initiative that will not only motivate local security personnels but also strengthen the agency’s integrity in the discharge of their services to the people.

The ongoing construction of roads in the Central, West and Eastern parts of the state, construction of new hospitals, schools and renovation of old and dilapidated ones. The government has been very responsive to ongoing obligations i.e servicing of projects. As at today, no active government contractor in the state can deny that s/he has not gotten a good percentage of funding.

Since inception of office, not less than one hundred and fifty (150) security vehicles have been distributed to various security departments — police, army, navy and the state’s local security agencies to strengthen the combat against criminal elements operating within the nooks and crannies of the state. These are just few out of the numerous capital expenditures of the state.

Then my questions come back to beg for answers again; How is Ododo stingy? Who are those complaining? Is it the civil servants, government officials and contractors who get paid as at when due? Who?

I understand one of the powerful archaic strategies and weapon of the opposition politicking is to cause chaos and confusion amongst the ruling class, first by bringing up baseless and mischievous arguments such as the one currently flying on the internet space about the yet-to-be proven Governor’s stinginess — a calculated DOA attempt by opposition elements to instigate the masses against the people-centered administration of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

While the Governor will continue on his good works, what he needs is the continuous supports and prayers of the people, especially the youths. This is not the time to give room to mischief makers and propagandists to operate. Whether any self-centered persons like or not, Ododo 2027!

Nigeria Finalises Partnership with the World’s Largest Solar Panel Production Company, LONGi, at Its Headquarters in China

Today, at the headquarters of the world’s largest solar panel production company, LONGi, in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China, Nigeria finalised a strategic partnership through the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) led by its Director-General, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi. The Nigerian delegation was received by the President Boshen Zhong and Vice President Li Wenxue of LONGi and taken on a tour of one of the world’s largest solar cell production facilities. This visit follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ECN and LONGi in London earlier this year.

During the visit, Dr. Abdullahi advanced discussions on the establishment of a 500–1000 MW solar panel production factory in Nigeria, a move set to significantly boost the nation’s renewable energy sector. ECN’s presentation highlighted Africa’s growing market and the demand potential for solar mini-grids, while emphasizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Solarisation Policy, which seeks to accelerate access to clean energy across Nigeria.

LONGi expressed strong interest in investing in Nigeria and demonstrated readiness to advance concrete plans for the construction of the factory. This partnership marks a historic milestone for the Nigerian renewable energy landscape and aligns with national efforts to expand local solar manufacturing capacity.

The ECN looks forward to working closely with LONGi and the Federal Government to realize this transformative initiative, which will create jobs, enhance energy security, and drive sustainable development across the country.
